I have read about washing my car with purified water for a while now, but always though it would be way expensive. I stumbled upon this RV water purifier on amazon and was amazed. The water just runs right off the car leaving zero water spots even in direct sunlight. I just connected it to the end of my garden hose, but before my power washer.
Unfortunately i didn’t have any time to take a picture after the wash, but will next wash.

Your observation is interesting. I have used distilled water which should have no contaminates and it still beads up but in a different way than tap water. The only time the water ran off for me was on an older car that was never waxed. Water didn’t bead up so also left no spots. Maybe we should be using rinse water that has a wetting agent to avoid spots on waxed cars.

No surprise this idea is coming from a black Porsche owner! LOL

Yes deionized water is great for washing cars, then dry off with a leaf blower and you are are going to be as swirl free as possible, well still use care with your wash mitt.

I installed a whole house water softener, including the outside faucet where I connect my hose. After washing the car I use a leaf blower and have zero water spots.

Thanks for the heads up--I just ordered one. I have a de-ionizer system for cleaning my wife's greenhouse. But hauling two, heavy-ish, tanks along with assembling the system to rinse my car. Frankly, I haven't felt the need to go to the effort when I wash my Porsche. I just make sure I wash in the morning or evening with shade and dry the car off quickly. I'll definitely give this filter a try.

Deionized water has been out for a while but I’m not sure how long that amazon one will last with repeated car washes.
This is the one I use but only for the rinse cycle to conserve the tank

Been using CR Spotless for years, how long these things last is dependent on your water quality. I suspect the one on Amazon will be short-lived. As others have mentioned rinse and blow dry = no spots or scratches.

You just change the filter on the thing, when needed, correct?

From my previous experience with small water softener cartridge systems like this, I'm thinking you won't get much more than 1 to 5 washes per cartridge, depending on the hardness level of your water. Use regular water for the soap, and the softener for rinse only.
