First Oil Change $245

Mobil 1, liquids top off, reset message, docs for warranty from an Indy. I watched the mechanic do a good job. Wonder how price compares to a dealer?

I paid about that from my dealer. Maybe it was a bit closer to $300 but not more. For the 10k/1 year service (which is basically an inspection and oil change).

My dealer charges $350 -- believe it or not. I do it myself and save about $300.

LexVan 05-10-2018 02:49 PM

I pay about $200 and supply the 8 quarts of Mobil 5W50.

docmalone 05-10-2018 03:00 PM

My dealer is $200 even for oil change.

Nin Din Din 05-10-2018 03:14 PM

Two dealers in NH were at $305 and $325 last fall.

Mine is close to 400 but purportedly does other things, like wash it with water from the Danube.

I'm in the wrong line of work

Just curious if you guys do 5K or 10K and/or annual on your changes. Just read a very good article by our RSR tech guy who says he wouldn’t go 10K especially with recommended 0W40

I just did my own last week and it's pretty simple to do as others have said. The only tricky part is figuring out how much to put back in because Porsche doesn't give you a dipstick, just that silly digital oil indicator and you never get a true full drain. So that's annoying and the worst part of the job because you don't want to overfill.

Mobil 1 is always on special at Amazon for Prime members in 5 qt jugs so I think with oil filter my cost to do was about $ 70 or so, I just can't pay someone $ 200 for 30 min worth of semi-skilled work.

How do you reset the service message?

With this, iCarsoft POR-II Porsche OBD-II Scanner Tool

The iCarsoft, the Launch-X, and Durametric tools are all great. I have the Durametric to be able to test the car a little more extensively beyond simple service message resets and love it.

I paid right around $300 last year. Pleasant wait looking at cool cars, free water/coffee and nice people. Tech took me back and showed me all around the bottom of the car on the lift. I hardly drive the car because my S550 is just more practical in most situations I'm in, so I'm a yearly/far less than 5K guy.
I just wrote a $100 check for a guy to change a $20 ballast on a light that took him 5 minutes. It's all relative, I guess. The electrician didn't bring me a bottled water.

But did yo take your light to the electrician's shop?
