Thumbs up Miss Me Yet?

Even though I was only here a short time, I'm very appreciative to all the welcoming members that were so helpful in assisting me on my prospective build. I was finally going to be a Porsche owner, and able to contribute to what is unquestionably the best car forum on the internet.
At least for now, I have to put those plans on hold. It just seems impossible to get a 991.2 built, at least any time soon. So, I'm moving on to interim transportation. My trusty BMW dealer had an allocation on the new M5, and it looks like they can get it built next month. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun, and should keep me smiling until the 992 has been around for awhile and readily accessible.
I'll be returning from time to time, to stay caught up, and maybe share some quick thoughts on the M5.
Its been a pleasure participating in this forum.

Bob

That's how Porsche rolls, make 1 less than the market demands. And you are the 1.

Enjoy your new ride.

No. The 991 is already so non purist, why would you wait for the 992? The best car forum is FChat or McLaren Life/Talk.

Try getting a GT3. I will never understand Porsche's business model. People want to buy a car and they wont sell you one. It's not demand minus 1 either.....it is minus 100 at least.

It's as if you walk into Walmart and want to buy a pair of jeans and they say nope.....we don't want to sell you one. And this is not about exclusivity either....the cars are exclusive based on price alone even if they built twice as many as they do.

Impossible to get a 991.2 Carrera build??? Must not have tried very hard ...

Can you get a custom build produced next month? Probably not. Should be easy to score one though. Geez.

BMW M is getting further and further from their roots: turbocharging, true automatic tranny and four wheel drive!! Oh well, it actually sounds like a fun drive - enjoy and let us know how you like it.

After owning or leasing 7 BMWs over the last 13 years, when our lease ended in April we turned it in and walked away.

Sounds like there must be more to the story that it's "impossible to get a 991.2 built, at least any time soon."

This!
I'm fairly convinced that the "F" gen series stands for flatulence.

Gone are the visceral NA sounds and classic round halos...the quest for growth is causing the company to lose its identity and abandon some of its core ///M principles.
OP - apologies for the rant and I do hope you enjoy your M5.
