I'm not a 991 one guy yet. But all my cars are 3M/or like protected.
For the dry california/arizona/texas owners who wash their car every month, whether they need to or not.
I could wash my car every day, for the crap I drive through ....
All front impact areas are covered, including headlights and fog lights.
For those with wavy material? It is either a knock off, or applied and s t r e t c h e d too much.

I just picked up my car from John over at Gulf Coast Auto Shield as recommended by OP. Another happy customer. John would actually like to become a sponsor on this forum. Can anyone let me know so I can pass the info to him?

Just came back from 2 days at Sebring, between bugs and rubber the car was filthy. After a wash and basic detail car looks great. When we looked at stuff everywhere there was PPF I was very thankful we did it. Can’t imagine what the paint would have looked like after without. Took the car out to dinner and you never would have know it was the same car. Sorry forgot to take before and after pic.

I was at the store and saw the material that was being used while they were finishing the job. It is very evident the difference between regular and Plus. There is no "orange peel" effect on the Plus film. And the clarity is even higher. I was joking with the owner that perhaps he just waxed my car and applied no film, that is why you couldn't tell there was anything! And also have the documentation and warranty documents stating what was applied.

Haven't had any rock strikes yet, but as I just experienced, high speed bug impacts that sometimes leave marks on the bumpers were no issue at all. And very easy to clean and remove. The same bugs, hit at a lower speed were a ****** to remove them from my wife's Q5 without PPF.

Hi Alex, We'll have to compare - as my GT Silver "T" has Xpel Ultimate (not plus) on it - and I'll confess I have a hard time noticing it is there. Maybe we should get together one weekend soon and do some "research" for the forum :-)
cheers!

Almost on cue for this thread, I had a PPF save at lunch today. I was parked pretty far out in the lot with some other nicer cars that were all leaving with an empty spot between each of us. Just after parking someone pulled in on my right. He opened his door into the mirror, hitting it at a steep angle with the door edge sweeping across the front of the mirror ripping into the PPF. Fortunately the mirror probably flexed back some helping alleviate the damage.
I did have the pleasure of talking with the young man You could see on his door edge that he has done such things before. Gah!
I just looked at it more closely with my PPF guy and the paint underneath is fine. It is just torn PPF and glue. He is offering to replace it for free (although a good tip will be in order!). I don't know how ugly it would have been without the PPF, but with the sharp edge of the mirror there I have to think some damage would have been done.

Hate that some people are so careless and bang their doors into other cars.

Finally got over the the PPF shop and got the PPF replaced on my mirror from the damage noted a couple of posts ago. Sure enough the paint underneath was still pristine! A shout-out to René at SunBusters in Austin for fixing it up for me.
Also FYI, René says that the Alfa Romeo headlights have the same UV coating and the same trouble with delamination. So if you are fortunate enough to have a Guilia or Stevlio as a four-door alternative be aware of the risk in case you get PPF for that too.
