Prepaid maintenance plans for 991.2
Anyone buy these for the 17 or 18 models? The latter have the first service, oil change, free. I didn't buy one but wondering if it saves any money?
I just had two shoulder surgeries (bad knees too) and can't deal with crawling under the car to change the oil or removing the bumper for changing the air filters etc. (Can still shift the 7MT and press a clutch). My 18 C4S is a keeper, my retirement car, so would like to use the dealer at least for the warranty period.

Most of the time pre-paid maintenance is not worth it.
Before anyone buys a maintenance plan have the service adviser put some estimates together keeping in mind the miles going to be driven and how long you normally keep a car to see if it's worth it.
Many on here just don't drive the miles to get what they paid for before the next new things comes out.

Yeah, I didn't buy anything from the dealer either. Was just wondering because I see these plans being advertised even on Porsche's website.

Pre paid plans are not for me.
I think people who like them, are people who roll the costs into their car loans and leases.

I might have considered it, if it was a good discount over what I had previously paid.

I had one on my last Audi. Prepaid for 4 visits. Sold the car before I even had the 2nd visit. Expected to keep the car longer when I first bought it but things change. Never again will I prepay for maintenance.
I know the OP plans to keep this car but what if it gets wrecked or something.

They are just oil changes and one brake flush.
Air filter doesn't go in until after most those run out their service limits (for most drivers)

I am in line to be doing 10k/year. I drive my car all year long. Basically, I asked for the combined cost of the 20k, 30k and 40k services. If prepayment saves me 20% or so, I may consider it. Not otherwise. Of course I don't have a price from the dealer I use so who knows. Only reason I an even considering it is because I saw it being advertised by Porsche on their website.

Check around to see it there are any independent shops in your area specializing in Porsche. They are more than capable and I believe usually very enthusiastic about the marque.
I'm lucky that there are some near me but obviously it's not the same for all.

I have used an independent garage in the past to get some work done on my Boxster. They are very good. Not cheap though but marginally cheaper than the dealer. I plan to use them after the warranty period unless my dealer provides me with reasonable service costs post warranty. Do Porsche dealers do goodwill repairs if the car was bought and maintained at the dealership? Say turbos needed replacement at 54k miles. I don't know. I used to own a BMW Z4 whose steering rack needed replacement just post the warranty period. Price was 4k but BMW picked up 75% of the costs. That car was a nightmare. The Porsche dealer I go to is pretty good with prices for parts and service. Recently I bought a set of Michelin sport 4S tires (N spec) from them at the same cost as TR.

This might give you some idea of cost.
Price might not reflect cost charged in your area.

We do not have a pre-paid plan on either of our Porsche's. Had one on my wife's MB E550. Bought the 20K, 30K and 40K up front at a 50% discount and paid cash.
