Thanks. These prices are quite reasonable. My dealer is more expensive.

Pre-paid maintenance plans are dumb. I never seen any savings when I did my own calculations.

This is just paying cash to the dealer, and they can make more money via interest in collecting the money. It is like you are paying a premium for a consumable item to be used later (technically it is depreciation).

Mercedes-Benz really pushes for these plans etc

If one can get a substantial discount (say 25% or so) on a prepaid plan, I would go for it. My dealer charged 375 bucks for an oil change in my 981 Boxster. Second, third and fourth year service costs, if I remember correctly, were about 850, 450 and 1500 respectively. Almost 3200 in 4 years. Never mind a new set of tires.

Not sure if they’re doing this anymore, but when I moved into my new lease in Dec, Porsche had a thing going where they’d cover the intermediate maintenance in exchange for lowering the residual value by 1%. Can’t remember the math off the top of my head, but it results in essentially a huge discount off the intermediate service price - i think it dropped the “cost” to like $500 or something like that. I usually say no to everything at signing time, but had to pick this option up.

I called my dealer to get a price for a maintenance plan and they told me they have to check with Porsche to see if they are allowed to sell a plan six months post purchase. Then I called Porsche and they told me that yes, I would be able to purchase a plan because I haven't had my first service. Don't know why that should make any difference. And they told me that the dealer sets the price but any other dealer would have to honor that price if I went to a different dealer for service. All sounds very strange to me. The MSRPs of the maintenance plans are not advertised and Porsche refused to tell me what they cost. Only communicated to the dealer. So have to haggle with them I suppose. Probably not worth it.

AnandN, just remember, your first oil change is already included in your purchase price. FYI.

What do you guys think of these prices? Seem high to me.
20K is basically an oil change and brake flush. 30K is basically an oil change I think so a grand for that?

20k or called plus 1 = $935
30k or called plus 2 = $2025
40k or called plus 3 = $3425
50k or called plus 4 = $4140

I would find an Indy to do these.

Oil change is $75 in materials and 1/2 hour of labor.
Brake flush is $20 in materials and 1 hour of labor.

I DIY these myself.

Crazy prices:

An oil change plus brake fluid is about $500.

Just an oil change is about $300.

The 40K is about $2,000.

Do the cabin filters yourself.

Yeah a bit much. For the 991.2, changing spark plugs is at the 30k interval and engine air filters at the 40k interval.

So 20k miles, $ 935 is for oil change, brake flush and changing the cabin filters plus inspections.
At 30k miles, 1090 is for oil change and spark plugs with a bunch of inspections.
40k miles, 1400 is for oil change, brake flush and engine air filters plus inspections.

Kinda nuts. Basically ~1k /year for service not including tires of course. I have an independent garage I can use. Mine is a keeper so I am not worried about the next owner unless I am dead and my wife has to sell the car.

Good one. I better not die on her anytime soon or she will find me wherever I am to kill me all over again.
