If you don't drive your quickly and challenge the brake pads from time to time they develop a 'polished' surface. This type of surface can generate a harmonic = squeal. To get rid of it, simply drive to the speed limit, brake hard, do this several times and the "polished" surface is abraded and the harmonic does not occur. Squeal gone.
