Unhappy Wheel damage while in service

Took my car to the local dealership for an issue involving brakes. When I picked up the car, I noticed scratches on rear wheels. Dealer is offering to re-paint all four wheels. I am concerned that the paint/finish quality will not match the original factory. Anyone had a similar experience? Thoughts?

Tell them to replace the one damaged wheel because you don't want non factory painted wheels.

That's bad. Isn't there a car on the dealers lot they can swap them out for ?

Repainted wheels are never the same

I think both rears have damage, but I agree have new ones.

Sorry to see/hear this. If it truly was caused by the dealer, I would be pissed... either a full wheel replacement or at least a touch up servicd on the wheel. I had that done actually to my Tesla by a third party which had curbed wheels all around (sigh don't ask me why) and the job was done phenomenally. Couldn't tell that they were brand new wheels from the factory.

Unfortunately this kind of stuff happens. Not acceptable but it happens. If they offered to paint all 4 wheels which it looks like they have just make sure it is a Porsche certified shop and that they do all the right steps, remove tires, clean and strip all wheels of old paint and refinish and cure properly. If they do you may be amazed at how good a job some of these shops can do and you get a new set of freshly painted wheels out of it. Life is too short to start kicking and screaming that you want all new wheels.

Both rears were damaged. I’m not the kicking and screaming kind. Just trying to see what is reasonable and what I should insist on.

If they are willing to paint all 4 wheels, go for it. It'll be fine. Just ask what the warranty is on the newly painted wheels. I'm willing to bet it will be lifetime warranty against flaking, fading, etc.

I did not mean to insinuate you were that kind. And did not mean it that way. I think the solution they are providing is a good one and I agree with getting a clear idea of warranty on the work.

a wheel touch up guy can repair that and leave it unnoticeable and you retain factory paint.
ask them for a credit on your next service equal to the amount this was going to cost.
Oh and you may want to clean those dirty wheels.

Looks like there were straps attached to the rear wheels to keep the car in place. Their body shop will be able to exactly match the damaged area on the wheels with Porsche paint. If it were I, I would NOT have them paint the front wheels which are not damaged as long as I was satisfied with an accurate paint match with rear wheels. I had a similar issue on another Porsche wheel and the shop made good with perfect paint match and I was on my way. Life is too short. Don't sweat the "small" stuff, even though it does hurt at first blush. All things age with use, including us !! Nothing stays new forever :-))

Thank you everyone. I've gone ahead and agreed to the repaint. The dealer brought someone in and were told that it'll be difficult to match exactly. Warranty is a concern of mine, and I intend to make sure that the wheels will be covered by the dealer.

I'll let you know how things turn out.

Turbodan, I brought the car in because of the break squeal. It is not present when the wheels are clean (after a thorough cleaning with Sonax), but that lasts only a few days. After that, starts up again. And it's only on the right rear. Left them dirty in order to reproduce the symptom.

Porsche brakes DON'T squeal. They vibrate. They were made to do that:
