Are you guys doing separate rims for winter tires, or changing over twice a year? For my WRX I bought separate rims/tires, but for the 911 that's an expensive option.

I went with separate winter wheels/tyres. To reduce cost, I opted for 19” rims for the winters. (I don’t have PCCBs or RAS.)
Plus, I like the idea of changing the car’s look twice a year.

Thanks Wing Commander! I've been following your threads here for a while and think it's great yours is a DD. My wife has an SUV in the family fleet for utility purposes but I'm still a little apprehensive on the routine use aspect since it will be my primary car. It is good to see others making it work! What winter tires do you use? Are you in the UK?

Thanks Wing Commander. I actually found a set of used rims just like those, but I do have RAS, so need 20" ones. I'll just keep an eye out.

Should have also asked. What about TPMS? Is that an issue? On my DD, I had programmable ones installed and they have the same serial# as my factory ones. Do you need that for the 911?

Only downsides to routine use/high mileage are shorter gaps between services and the obvious acceleration of depreciation. But you only live once, so why not drive an iconic sports car every day!
They’re Continental ContiWinterContact tyres, supplied by Porsche with the wheels.
Yep, I live in the UK.

The swap over went smoothly. The summers will go back on in early March I expect, or maybe a little sooner if we get a mild winter here.

Thanks Wing!
Yeah, my DD swapping is easy as well. Plus I love having ultimate grip during summer as well as winter. I didn't think I'd be driving the 911 much during Winter months unless it's over 45 degrees Fahrenheit. However, it's hard just watching it sitting in the garage.

My 911 is my sole car, so no choice! Plus, the T lives outside!!

Simple question for T owners, since I don't have my car yet. Does the built-in nav use Google Maps? If so, does it have a built-in cell connection or is it tethered to a cell? I use Android so am pretty disappointed Android Auto isn't supported, but having Google Maps with live traffic in the nav would make up for a big part of it. Thanks

No google maps, the satellite images are from another source. Cant remember but can check later. I personally still use my phone for directions as the PCM is still a little clumsy in my opinion. I really wish they supported Android Auto....

But you can get Google Maps if you have an iPhone and use Car Play. I know, you have Android. I have been watching the other thread where people claim they have activated/upgraded (not clear on this point) to Android Auto support but no one has really posted how to do this yet. For now I guess I'll stick with iOS even though I would like to switch (sometimes).
