The New York Captive Audience Tax
maybe this will make some of you all feel a little better, maybe this is the normal going rate. just dropped off my car for 20k mile service: oil change, filter change, air and pollen elements swapped, new wipers (i declined these just put those PIAAs on which i love), lube, adjustments, general check.
$1550 bux before taxes.
a city so nice they named it twice

If this was a ‘4-year’ maintenance and included the engine air filter - means the rear bumper cover has to come off - then it is still ridiculous, just not ‘unlubricatedly’ ridiculous. Probably 150% markup on parts with a $200 shop rate?
Then add state, city, borough, block, big-drink and misc other SJW taxes on top

Any ideas what a quality independent Porsche shop would be charging for this exact service? Curious.
I plan to take my car to an independent shop for an oil change at 1,000 miles. That will conclude the break-in period!

Sans wipers it should be ~$200 job for parts and labor for the same job but you don't need cabin filters. Add another $300 for engine air filter(~150 for BMC + ~150 labor because rear bumper removal, maybe more for a worse OEM filter).

You don’t need that ‘exact service.’ At 1k-miles you need an oil change: 8 quarts of oil, filter, drain plug - roughly $100 - and an hour(-ish) of labor at whatever the shop rate is ($125-$175.)

I have all my scheduled maintenance done by an indy - track maintenance, 911 maintenance and my wife's Cayenne.

Engine air filters is a 40,000 mile service, NOT a 20K service. Or at year #4 when the plugs are also due. FYI.

I did a 20k service on my GT3 in the fall, as my use is quite demanding (less than 11k mi.). New plugs, new engine air intakes, oil change, filter, two exchange air filters - cost was less than $200.
I really feel sympathy for people that don't wrench either because of time constraints or knowledge.
If you really want to see a NY tax, look at the price that they are charging for cars in Porsche of Southampton, NY. I cringe just to look - they are so far over the top its ridiculous.

Changing the engine air filter at 20k miles might be over-maintaining depending upon conditions. In West Texas? Not so much. In NYC? Probably.

Wow that is really not necessary.
There are so many really competent Porsche indy shops very close in the area. No affiliation whatsoever, but Apex Autowerks, Aspen Autosports, Stable Energies, Powertech to name just a few. No need to get hosed by the NYC dealers for a glorified oil change.
