If you used Rob @ Designshielding, how did you take care of paint correction and a coating? Rob only does PPF. Did you skip correction and have the car coated with someone after Rob's work? Thanks!

That would be the course of action if u believe in opticoating. I regularly wax my 911 and it doesn’t see snow or rain so I opted against.

I used Jim Stangohr of Pro-Tech. He came to my garage to install. On my new Black 911 C2S I had the full frontal PPF applied, plus all around the windshield, full rockers including over the sills to prevent shoe scrapes, fore and aft of rear wheels, mirrors, door edges and door handle cups. Cost $1920 for Suntek and Jim did a great job. The finish on the Suntek PPF is amazing. Hard with a high luster and low surface tension, so water beads up and runs off. It's much better than the 3.5 year old Expell PPF on my 911 trade in. It looks just like the remaining Black painted areas. Everybody I've talked to prefers the Suntek nowadays.

LUSTR Detail [ updated ]
Ivan at Lustr Detail just paint corrected and wrapped my as-delivered 2019 GT3RS.
He has moved from Schaumburg to Palatine.
This also means he isn't next to Umbra anymore. He now does his own wrap work in Suntek and Xpel.
I updated the recommended PPF installer thread in the 991 forum with his new address info.
However it's worth noting that Ivan's wrap work is impressive. I used to read the threads about the great guys in CA and ATL - such beautiful work - and desiring the same for my car, I thought I'd drive or ship my car there someday. Ivan doesn't take off the bumpers, and he delivers wraps that show no edges - truly amazing work. The work he does in-house now is better than what I got from Umbra, his old next door neighbor shop - and they did really good work.
For example, on my 3RS, he wrapped the front bumper including all openings without any seams and wrapped the edges inside and around so that there are no gaps where road rash can find a home.
And, he somehow managed to wrap the entire flank of the car, from A pillar up to and along the roof, down the C pillar and covering all the way down to the rocker and under the door and back across the rear fender flare to the taillights all in one piece.
No seams.
Really another level of great.
So Ivan has always done meticulous detailing and paint work. Now with his own wrapping he really delivers outstanding quality, right here in our home town.
PS - He also re-applied my OEM decals over the PPF.

Reviving an old thread. Looking to have my doors and hips wrapped in xpel. These recommendations still good? Designshielding gave me a competitive quote. Lustr Detail hasn't returned my messages. Left one 3 weeks ago and then one yesterday.

Ivan at Lustr Detail is at the top of my list along with Tim Kirlin and son, 630-669-7033. Tim also does mobile work, he has made the trip from Illinois to my home in Indiana multiple times for Expel installation on my cars. You just need to provide a really clean and well lit space.
