go.illini's radar detector hard wire install

I’d ordered the MT-1015, but contacted them after seeing the trouble people had had with it and they sent me the MTX-1015 right away. Did the install this afternoon in less than 20 minutes. I had a little trouble prying the connector out of its clip (was being pretty gentle for fear of snapping something), but eventually got it. Then had to wait quite a while for the hair dryer to shrink the shrink wrap tube around the wires. All buttoned up now and looks great. Thank you so much for taking the time to write up these instructions and for all of the people that weighed in on how easy it is.
Mine is paired with a blendmount too. A bit crazy how much they charge, but it’s a quality product.

quick question... will this mirror tap install work regardless if the car has auto dimming mirror or the regular day/night mirror?
thanks
thanks

I'm late to the party but THANK YOU!! My '14 C2S came with the wire already installed but my new (to me) Turbo S comes off the truck today so since I'll be sleeping in the garage, I can get this done!

Hey guys, im trying to follow up this DIY but I don't have the yellow connector under my mirror. I would assume thats because I don't have auto-dim on my rear view mirror. Would it be possible to just use the blue one on the left side ? I think the left blue connector is always on and I can just set my R3 to battery save and turn it off manually. Id rather do this for now than run a hardwire down to the fusebox (I can do this later). Im curious if anyone has tapped into the blue connector and did it this way ? thanks..

Lots of great info. on this thread!
Since I didn't feel like waiting for the wire tap kit to ship (and saving $45) I crafted my own out of some 14-16 gauge copper wire, solder and heat shrink and the RJ11 from my 991.1.
Note it's probably a good idea to use some electrical tape around the taps into the blue connector...so they don't vibrate loose and end up shorting and blowing a fuse.

Thanks for this write-up! I used the 10" kit to mount my V1 on the passenger side with about 0.25" to spare!

This is the mount I used in both my cars, price made it a no brainer https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Uniden-...P/123704041815
