Some interesting articles and videos regarding Gorilla glass (from Corning's website):

http://www.corning.com/gorillaglass/...indshield.html

There was a comment about Gorilla glass being "quicker to defrost", but not sure why Porsche doesn't include a defroster with Lightweight glass option.

If a rear defroster was included, I would have specced my T with the lightweight glass.

I broke down and ordered it with the lightweight glass despite being less practical.

There's no right or wrong. And the lightweight glass is a 'special' feature available on the T.

Bah. I could care less about fogged rear glass. I’ll open a window if need be.

I picked up my T two days ago, but have had limited driving time due to poor weather. Nonetheless, I really like it so far. My car has LWBs and rear seat delete with the lightweight glass. The sound is NICE. There is a swoosh that comes on under acceleration that is akin to the fan noise in my ‘86 Targa. The interior noise level is just right and I certainly would not want it any quieter. I will need more seat time before commenting on the numerous chassis/performance option settings.

As it happened I drove my 2014 base Cayman 6mt with X73 back to back with the new CT. Very different feel, especially the transmission. The clutch feel is night and day different, with the T being much lighter. I think someone here mentioned stalling their new car a couple times and the same thing happened to me. I prefer the heavy clutch in the Cayman, but will no doubt learn to live with the new CT clutch. The T shifter also needs to break in and hopefully will develop the more precision feel of the Cayman. The Cayman feels more old school and a lot less technologically loaded. This was surprising given the mere four year difference in model years. It’s the sum effect of SPASM, Appleplay, PSE and Sport Chrono, none of which the Cayman has.

SPASM vs X73 is another difference that likely will need more Seat time to get comfortable with the T. My Cayman with its analog suspension loads up smoothly when cornering, and gives a lot of confidence when pushing the car hard. But of course I also have a lot of driving time with the car, including many days on track. There’s a big difference in weight distribution with the T that I need to get used to. There’s also a lot more power available coming out of corners.

Thanks for the initial impressions!

Question: Did you get rear wheel steering? Curious how that impacts your impressions vs. the Cayman.

Drove down to NC last night and of course the BMW had engine issues while en route. At the dealership now waiting to get fixed but of course had to look for Ts in the neighborhood while here. Found this over-the-top bad boy (no affiliation w/ dealer):

I plan on driving by after I’m done here to see it. Crazy build but I kinda like it!

Nice! You’ll potentially have two Ts in the family!

Looks like they went all out on colors....Orange exterior, yellow brakes, red seat belts, black interior, yellow dials. Other than that it is a really nice configuration. First T that I see with a higher MSRP than mine... now I don't feel that bad.
