I'm not now but it does look like my only option. Suncoast Porsche parts states that locking the car after activating the charger will prevent the software from kicking the charger off but that didn't work for me!

The same thing happened in the BMW motorcycle world when they switched to CanBus. Circuits would shut off. Why bother. Owners just connected the charger pigtails directly to the battery post clamps which really is the best way to charge a battery. I've done that on all my cars and motorcycles.

Hold on!
Don't bother your dealer yet. You said light above the "Motorcycle"
Wrong setting!
I'll say it again.
For Porsche which uses AGM batteries, your CTEK needs to be set to the "Snowflake" button mode. Snowflake light needs to be on.
Got it?

I connected a battery tender junior and bought a cigarette lighter connector and when I connect it there is a red light on the cigarette connector but the tender is solid red and not the flashing green. I did check the tender connecting it to my motorcycle and it works. Is the tender junior too small for the Porsche or a problem with the connector? I bought the connector on Amazon. My vehicle is a 2006 Cayenne S.

Try connecting it directly to the battery with clips. The lighter connector may be bad.

Not very easy to do it as it is under the seat. The lighter connector works for normal purposes as I can charge my phone, or connect other things too. Even with the connector it is showing power.

Do you think it would work with a Cayenne? I tried calling Porsche and they were most unhelpful. They were only talking about their battery tender.

Of course. The key thing here is to maintain the battery because the car isn't driven often.
Connect directly to the battery and bypass all the ECU etc is the way to do it.

My issue is that because the battery is under the seat it is not easy to do it. That is why I am looking for a cigarette lighter connection. Porsche told me the only way to connect a battery tender to the Cayenne and leave it is to use the cigarette lighter connection. They do not sell separate lighter connections and sells the whole thing which is fairly expensive too.

you are saying the cigarette lighter connector came from Battery Tender?

No Jim. I had to buy one on Amazon for that. I do not think Battery tender sells them. But I did connect to the connection points under the hood with the clamps that came with the tender and still it did not work. The lighter connector has a red light that came on when I put it inside the lighter socket. However the tender had a steady red instead of the flashing green that is supposed to be charging.

The Junior is the lowest amp tender they make. I have used it on 12v batteries with no problem but it may be the charge rate is not adequate for your battery which I presume is an AGM. Try upgrading to one of the CTEK brand tenders. You can get the best current model on Amazon for about $70. It’s the same one Porsche rebrands for 3x the price.
