R3 deals better with false alarms from driving aids. My 360 drives me a bit nuts in that sense, although you can learn which frequencies are most used by different car manufacturers.
It depends also if laser is predominant in your area, windshield detector won't do well for obvious reasons.
I have the 9500 in the wife's car, 360 in mine. I'm not sure if the difference is noticeable if you drive at the margin of limits. Again, depends if you have long stretches of highways for you, not the case in Chicagoland.
I think either uniden or 360(c) would be more than enough for the regular user wo constant laser presence.
The WiFi connection is interesting for the future, particularly with rumored waze alerts come to fruition. Right now I don't think they have enough users in all markets to have a sturdy on demand database.

I bought one on Saturday bc of this thread. It arrives Wednesday and will be my first RD. I went w the R1 bc my commute is only four miles so this is just for road trips and mountain drives. Super psyched, rennlist is the best.

First test of the Uniden R1 turned out to be bringing our new car home. It worked flawlessly and the range was amazing. In one scenario we were coming up a long rise where the highway curved right, went under an overpass and then started a gradual decline. A 1/4 mile after the overpass there was a TN state police in the median pointed our direction. The R1 went off more than a mile before we had a visual. Considering the source was on the backside of the rise and beyond the overpass, I was very impressed.
Next up is to get a proper mount. The standard one is too jiggly.

So I have decided it is time to upgrade as the technology has improved. I moved to Uniden R3. Maaaaannnn, what a difference!!! R3 is excellent eliminating false alarms, and has much much longer range. Also it is configurable depending on which bands you want to filter out.
I couldn't be happier!

I have used a Valentine One for many years (15+). Until recently, I have never considered another brand. But the other cars are causing too many false alarms. While I did read this string recommending the Uniden R3, I chose to buy a new Valentine One with the new technology to eliminate false alarms. Ordered it, installed it ... and damned if it didn't go off MORE than my old one. After a few drives, I cannot stand it.
I called Valentine One's tech folks and they assured me that I had the settings correct. And they admitted that they have not been able to eliminate the false alerts from 2018 model cars - they weren't able to keep up with the manufacturer's radar frequencies. That was not a promising response. I will send the new V1 back for a refund.

I have had the R3 in for a few weeks now and I am really happy with the attitude of the detector. Much quieter than the 9500 and very aware of radar in advance, good distance notification. I have the 9500 in a Jeep I drive on nasty days and I can't believe how noisy it is compared to the R3.
