Why OIL PRESSURE BAR vs PSI....why oh why
I can understand something like this from the Brits...but not the Germans. Why do they have one gauge reading in PSI and the other in BAR in my 991? Why not just keep it consistent? Not logical from logical Germans.

I'm an engineer and old enough to know the political differences between here and there. It matters not to me which unit of measure, as long as I know which I'm looking at. My left brain does the conversion if needed.

Abe,
The oil pressure gauge in Bars bothers me as well. For cars coming to the US the speedo reads in MPH, the water and oil temp gauges are in Fahrenheit, so the oil pressure should logically be in lbs/sq-in.
Doesn't distract from my driving enjoyment, however.

I am okay now....little Xanax....xtra Prozac ...and I am fine. Part of my original frustration was that I could not understand why my gauges were off only to learn they were in different units. After kicking the dog,...screaming an the wife and children....I am happy now. I don't have issues, really I don't.

I’ve always thought the two gauges were read off two different parts of the system because they don’t always seem to me to move up and down exactly together but maybe it’s just be because one is analog and one is digital.

want to be somewhat distracted? take bar readings and mentally multiply it by 14.504 and then compare the result to your digital PSI monitor

Haha. I went through the same process only I kicked the cat (just before she shredded my pants leg).

The only time anyone needs an oil pressure gauge is when there's a problem with the oil pressure. Having to take a moment to do the mental conversion required could easily be a moment too long with an oil pressure problem.
