RoRo - Roll on Roll off. These are really boring ships on the outside, very cool inside. I saw one that the US Navy operates out of Alameda last year. The rear of the ship features an angled ramp that hits the dock and allows cars to drive on/off. The bigger ships have 2 ramps for simultaneous loading and unloading, with some these ships holding as many as 6,000 cars. Can you imagine the planning that goes into loading a ship like this?

Due to the storm, my car took an extra long journey from Halifax to Davisville these last few days. The vessel went close in to Long Island on Thursday and drove around in circles for four days before mooring at Davisville early this morning.

Interesting factoid:
918's left the factory strapped to a wooden pallet and were then put inside a container for ocean shipment. Whether these containers were put on a Ro-Ro or a typical container ship is unknown. The containers were then unloaded at the port, the car was then removed from the container and pallet and prepped just like any other Porsche before being sent to the delivering dealer.
Story relayed to me from a 918 buyer.
