It appears Apple may be planning on allowing Google Maps and Waze (along with other 3rd parties) on Carplay with the release of iOS 12. https://www.engadget.com/2018/06/04/...upport-ios-12/

This is actually TRUE.
Google was attempting to mine engine data and other information which Porsche considered trade secret information.
This is not from me, this is from the company:

And, before you ask, I am an android user

"The publication says that Android Auto tracks variables including vehicle speed, throttle position, fluid temperatures, and engine revs, information that is collated and then sent back to Google. "
Let's see..- Vehicle speed varies and controlled by a driver Throttle position varies with driving and does not directly reveal any secrets. Engine revs are a function of speed and transmission gear. All the gear ratios are published. Fluid temperatures are perhaps the only thing that is not very easily readable, however they greatly depend on driver's driving style, road condition and weather.
So what is a trade secret here? I am still puzzled

Has anyone else seen Nick Murry's YouTube vid on exposing the Windows home page on the Porsche PCM? I was surprised to learn that the PCM runs on Windows. You'd think they would've picked something more reliable...like Android!

Just installed Andriod system to my Porsche Cayenne 2017 with PCM 4.0... Definitely touch is not as smooth as original but very good with few glitches.
