Going from installed radar to portable?

I have a 991.2 GTS, and am the fellow RL'er flickroll mentioned above. The .2 wiring is a little different, but very straight forward. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures, but they really aren't necessary. The only tool you need is a credit card to release a couple of spring clips. I'd be happy to walk you through it, if you like. I can assure you it is far, far easier than running to a fuse panel. I also can't understand all that taking the mirror apart stuff, when all you have to do is drop the Homeling/Lighting console down by releasing a couple of spring clips, and a connector with a switched circuit is staring you right in the face.

For radar I have used Valentine One forever, pretty good luck(knock wood). In my 991.1 I use Blendmount with the wire tap from the mirror and works great. As mentioned portable does nothing for laser, so just got ALP last week, already had a successful pop from Georgia State Patrol, he hit me I hit the brakes, non event. Don't know what jammer you used originally but ALP pretty sweet setup! Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I read that too but it is incorrect. Found that out from a fellow RL’er. Use the blue connector above the forward light panel. On the left side of the blue connector use the black wire for ground, black/red is switched power. Don’t use the purple wire. That’s what I did when I was using the R3 in my GTS and it worked like a champ.
Did the this on my 2017 C2S and works great!

I too just got ALP (only three—fronT protection tho am debating about adding rear. I also got a blendmount and use the Uniden R3–it works really well—gives Enough advance warning unless the cop flips the radar on last second. Also got a Blackvue 900 front and rear dashcam. I once got a ticket for a speed I am confident I was not doing and I think a dashcam might well help in that circumstance or in a wreck where the other driver gives a different version of events. Also got full ceramic tinting and all done same day so that was a bonus!

I have one and I like it...
I live in NYC and they started to move away from the K/KA band radars and now use laser and MRCD systems.
The range is not as great as the Uniden but it caught 2 speed traps with MRCD on the first day plus its extremely quiet in the city and virtually immune to the blind spot monitoring systems of other cars, picks up GMC/Cadillac though but you have to be very close. Its very compact in size easily the smallest out there.
They just dropped the price to $449 and offer to pay for your tickets for one year. Overall a very capable detector.

ALP works great, if it is set up correctly (otherwise it is useless) 991.2 really has no place for the front TX sensor though would really make it more robust.
The best all around setup for radar and laser is the Escort Max 360 Ci. Larger upfront cost, but no visible equipment, the Escort Live app + full 360 radar and laser coverage.

The research I have done indicates that AL Priority is more effective than Max 360 Ci. I wish the install of the ALP was more stealthy than is the case on my 991.2 but as the installer says, it is not a fashion accessory. They did a test and it is functioning tho I have not had it long enough to say it is working in real life.
