Congrats on the the new car! If you have the time to spend... DRIVE IT!
BTW - The color you have is AGATE gray, not ATLAS gray. Atlas is a much bluer, almost purpley dark gray. Atlas also adds 10-15hp, or so I'm told...
Have fun!

I will definitely post updates during the trip.
I will land in miami at 2pm, pick up the car and start driving up north.
When my dad found out I was planning to drive the 911 from Miami to LA, he decided to join me.
He lives in Italy, so he will fly on thursday from Venice, Italy to Miami and we will meet at the airport.
I am 40 and he is 69.
I am sure we will have a great time.
Thanks all.

I drove mine from Salt Lake City to Minneapolis after I bought it. The first few days were fantastic: Moab, Arches, the Rocky Mountains through Colorado to Denver. It’s a fantastic car for it, comfortable to cruise in but amazing when you want to open it up. The last couple of days sucked: Nebraska through Iowa. Even the dog was bored.

You will have the drive of a life time ! Wonderful to be able to share it with your Dad. I have done the East Coast to West Coast trip EVERY YEAR from 1972 until 1988 when i owned a seasonal restaurant on Cape Cod and would close up in the Fall and head for California to spend the winters. Then I would drive the return trip in the Spring. This is a big wide wonderful country with much to see. Allow stops along the way to see points of interest that may interest you........Strongly suggest a good radar detector (Valentine 1 or Escort 9500 CI that has built in laser jammer !! ). In those days I had a CB radio that I would talk to the truckers who would warn me of the "bear traps" along the way. I also had a radar detector. These days with all of the electronic surveillance, it is necessary to protect yourself if you want to up the ante on the speed limits, which can seem downright slow on those wide open stretches. For all of the cross country sojourns that I drove, I always drove a Porsche 911. I had a 1972, 1974 and 1982 911 respectively . I now have a '16 911 Carrera 4 GTS which likely may be my last. At the age of 75, I have hung up my string backed driving gloves for long distance cross country cruising :-)). Have a fabulous sojourn with your Dad and your new ride.
