Sold my 991.1/Short List to Replace
#17
The OP asked for a GT Silver pic. Here's mine.
My first 991 was white. I hadn't had a white car since 1978 and wanted to give it a try again. It looked great when clean, but it got dirty really fast. My second one was grey. I liked it better than the white car and got more favorable comments on it. I really like my silver car. If it's not snowing and if I don't need it for clients, I drive it as much as I can. I'd call it a semi daily driver. My wife's 997.2 C4S is her year round DD. We put winter tires and wheels on it, and it gets around just fine. Unless you need a lot of space, a 991 is a way better DD than a sedan or truck.

My criteria:
Got to be cool, like a 911
Great build quality
Quiet highway cruiser
Nice interior with good tech
Stylish but understated exterior
Cool factor weighs heavily in favor of a 991.2.

The new Panamera easily fits my criteria, that's why its on my list.
Feedback requested:
Is the Panamera cool?
When you see it, do you think 'cool?'
If you were to pick one word to describe one, what would it be?

I haven’t been without a 911 in 12 years except for a 9 month period in between my 996 while looking for a 997.2. I sold the 996 thinking I’d be ok without a Porsche and to try other things, including a ‘08 BMW 650i which I loved, but always missed having a 911. If you’re not 911 obsessed (like I possibly am), try something different. You can always get another one if you miss having it. On your list. I’d vote for the BMW M550. I have a ‘12 Range Rover Sport HSE Lux. Love it, but love the idea of a 5-series with muscle like the M550.

I feel like this thread has jumped the shark and were talking about South Beach Hotels 'cool, stylish, nice interior, good bars'
that said.....I think you are describing a Maserati GranTurismo or Ghibli (ill also stick with my original suggestion: Audi RS7)
I hate to say it but i think of BMWs as being very mainstream and average these days. so many of them, even M5s are common

If you have the budget for one, give those a look. It is heresy to say here, but I think I would actually enjoy a Panamera 4S with Burmester more than any 991

IMO only one of your options was a 911 and this is Rennlist/991 forums. I am voting for 991.2 Have a 991.2 C4 in GT Silver and I actually freaking love it. It does everything so well, it's remarkable. Aggressive sports car for spirited driving, comfortable with all the amenities for daily driving (vent/heated seats, parking sensors, backup camera, Bose, 14 way seats, good visibility, great compliant suspension).
It is the best sports car in the world. Plenty comfortable for highway driving, daily driving, track duty, all weather duty. There is no substitute (for the 911)!!!!!!

Cool
Even though it might be a great car (like many of the other cars Porsche makes) whenever I see a Panamera I always think that is someone who wanted a Porsche but is not really a car guy. I did get to hit 180MPH on the tarmac at the Naval air station with Hurley Haywood driving one though...and that was COOL...
