Excellent question. I have a well optioned base 991.1 and recently went to my dealership for a quote to add the factory PSE.................$5,700. Oh, and that includes the exhaust button on the shifter console.

I think I'll enjoy the one red sled I have now and wait until I get my next one for PSE. Thanks for the reply.

Thats way overpriced. I got my PSE installed on a 991.1 Base. Be careful as they like to add a $900 optional slip on dark tail pipes. The kit includes chrome tailpipes, so I made them remove the extra Dark ones.

Sport Exhaust

Part $2937.83 + tax

Labor $1155 + tax

Total installed $4092.83

That's a little more reasonable. I'm going to check with local dealer. With the 991.2 you have to replace the rear valance since my pipes are spread and the PSE are center mounted. Oh well, never hurts to ask. I just haven't found anyone that's actually done it on a 991.2. Thanks for the info.

OP. I suggest you drive a 991.2 with PSE before you spend $4,000.

I did that this past weekend and while fun, especially in sport mode, I don't think something I'll find much value in over time. Thank you for your input and think will wait until I spec the next one I get. For now I'm satisfied with owning a vehicle I've lusted for over 40 years. Dream come true!

Very wise....USGooner, What is the Porsche PSE but a $4k-5k noise maker. Maybe if the car already came with it....but it is hard to justify the cost of adding it on afterwards. Have you thought about just adding a bypass pipe to the rear muffler for 1k?

get quotes from different Porsche dealers, you will be surprised how the prices will vary for installation
but in summary
1. cost of exhaust : you can buy from multiple sources like suncoast and ship to dealer
2. basic installation i-e no wiring so valves are always open. that probably an hour of labor
3, basic installation with wiring for the button which is labor intensive and you probably will add several hrs of labor to basic installation , and this is where most of the dealers estimate vary reference cost

absolutely and also look into aftermarket. If you just like having OEM then obviously you only have one choice.... but for similar money there are better options although not 100% OEM.

I've been looking pretty closely to DIY this in the spring on a 991.1 4S. I cant speak for the .2, but from everything I've read that's wildly overpriced by almost a grand. At least on the .1, you can reuse the tips, new ones cost more than the muffler?! See the links below, if you have reasonable/ average mechanical ability, looks relatively straightforward.

Default 1500 TO 2 K WITH labor

1500 to 2k is a good number on a .1. Only center muffler is different. No need to.ourchase side mufflers or tios as they are the same. My buddy and i did it in my garage in 5 hours no lift. .2 may be different. Stealership will sell you parts you don't need because they suck.

Thanks, yes I'm trying to find a used center PSE muffler, but don't know how much longer I can hold out to save $2-3 hundred bucks. My local dealer has them for less than a grand, and I figure a hundred bucks + or - for tubing and hardware.

I don't think you can reuse the tips.

I have yet to do it myself so don't know for sure, but I've spent more time reading about it on here than I'd like to admit, and generally people say yes. I'll post when I get it done on my experiences.
