Playing radio with Waze in background could be problematic as Waze is muted and you cannot hear Waze LEO or hazard alerts. I guess the same applies to Jukebox - if you have Jukebox on, Waze is muted.

is it late to join on this group buy and install? Just bought my 2012 Targa 4S two weeks ago.

FYI you don’t need to do the group buy to get one, you can buy it from Nick whenever.

For the people that self installed it, did you have to disconnect the negative cable of the battery during the removal of the PCM Unit?

Yes! Whenever working on electrical components it’s always best to disconnect your power source.

I'll disconnect the battery when I do the wiring for the rearview camera but in my opinion, removing the PCM while the battery is connected is very, very low risk.

I agree there is a very low risk when removing the PCM without disconnecting the power source. However, a risk still remains and the best advise to share with those who have very little or no experience is to remove “all” risk by disconnecting the power source. I have been working on electrical components for decades and I was trained to always be safe and not to take risk no matter if you’re an apprentice or journeyman.

Is the USB connection that comes with kit powered, I mean will it charge the phone while connected?

Where do I keep/placed my USB cable. For my vehicle I elected to place the USB cable in my center console. The install for a fellow Rennlister his choice was to run the USB cable out of the passenger’s side panel. You can also run the cable to the glove compartment. Also, I discovered that the OEM USB port in the glove compartment still functions in a capacity for an iPod and will charge the phone (CarPlay mode is not capable unless the installer modifies the port for CarPlay with the proper USB adapter/cable).

I just bought my kit from Nick (android auto version). Everything is installed, just dont know where to put the box. Behind the pcm seems really tight. It does not fit under the HVAC controls. The suggested spot in the drivers footwell also did not seem to work. Anyone have other spots or suggestions/helpful hints?
