Does the vendor have an Android version? I'd be in if they did.

Thanks

Here is the latest communication with the vendor;

Hi Don,

I can do the following for the group buy, assuming there are 5 or more and it’s the full kit.
  • 5% from the kit cost.
  • Half the shipping cost from my cost of 70USD to 35USD
  • As mentioned before a further 5% from the kit cost for direct payment. (This would be by sending a ‘Revolut’ payment request – much like Paypal but without the fees for me.)
  • So cost would be:
570 USD + 35 USD pp for Paypal payment or

540 USD + 35 USD pp for direct payment.

I have units in stock now for PCM3.1 so shipping could be next week as required.
This is for the full kit, which comes with the stand-off studs for Sirius XM/DAB, the upgraded Parrot microphone, the USB adapter to connect the Carplay box to the glovebox USB, the full detailed install notes and remote support for any installation queries.
So I am in, not sure about the "Revolut" payment although I like saving $30.

This is for the unit from the company in the OP's first post, correct?

I don't think so, this company is NM Automotive.

I have to wait then - not b/c I was not serious about the group buy but I've learned that NM Automotive's version (Nick) will not fit my application (I have two cars, a 981 & 991, wanted to add this to the 981) He's researching if he can get the applicable unit for me b/c we KNOW the Australian company has it but I am waiting to hear back, will let you know - looks there are plenty anyway for the group buy at least, sincerely hoping he has my unit as well...:/ -Dom

What is the difference between the Australian one and the U.K. one? And what is the difference between the 981 use case and 991 use case?

The 981, by default, comes with the BASE system, called CDR3.1 (not CDR3.1+, which has the Navi/Map buttons, Nick says his unit works with that). Anyway, I've been in contact with the Australian folks, they said they have a DIFFERENT unit for my application. Nick is researching if he can get that one. Is that more clear? Don't want to scare anyone off from buying this unit from Nick, if you have PCM3.1, they are the exact same unit (as the Australian one, from what i can tell). Plus, he's been great & his install directions look top notch! -Dom

I had contact with www.unichip-tec.com , price quoted per piece was $419 including DHL shipping to Dubai. I would imagine that we could get a better price for group buy.

this is the video showing their product ->

To be honest I would rather buy it from The wizard for several reasons:
1) His package enables you to retain Sirius XM because he has provided the studs. I would have no idea where to find those by myself and it's not a good use of my time.
2) he has better install instructions which may reduce the risk of damage to my PCM unit.
3) He has an improved microphone.
4) I prefer stuff being shipped from the U.K. than China (regardless of where the product originated) because shipping is more reliable and faster on this route. With Shipping from China it can sometimes take a month depending on what service they select and with a group buy from a wholesaler I wouldn't expect fast shipping.
5) the installation help desk support from the U.K. is useful for my installer. I am going to be paying these guys by the hour and I don't want them to wait a day to hear back from someone in China. The ability to call a fellow native English speaker in an overlapping time zone is valuable.
6) the margin he is asking for is not unreasonable given these things.

I would definitely be in if it can work with Android or has Android capability coming in the near-future.

Not sure if it matters but my car is a 2013 991.1 with the Bose upgrade. Hope it still is compatible!

The Australian supplier can do Android. The U.K. one has it coming in a month or so - he has already been running a beta version on a car for a few weeks.
