SIRIUS XM renewal
#76
Let's say you own 4 cars. Their subscription for XM will no doubt not expire on the same month. You can only get a 6 month deal at the low rate with no CC. So 8 times a year you are going to have to jerk around with these people for a service that is widely available via streaming and in the case of Amazon Prime almost free. Not rocket science.

I believe they charge you a $1 fee for paying by check, which helps cover their postage and mailing of bill to you. Not unreasonable and great insurance for not allowing them access to your CC.
Yes, it is a nuisance to have to call them 2x a year for every car, but it is equally time consuming for them as a company paying their employees to spend 30 mins on every customer 2x a year as well..

Gary: I don't think its a gross exaggeration for me. I call and have to wait on hold for at least 3 mins. Then I usually get into a call center with a rep who speaks poor English and asks me a dozen questions about which radio, which car, etc. Then I tell them I want to cancel and another few minutes goes by where they tell me about all of the great programming, great value, different packages to lower my monthly bill and I hold firm and ask to cancel. Then I get transferred to retention, another 3 min hold time, who gives me the loyal customer nonsense, we value your business, here are the promotions I can offer. THEN, after we agree on the package/price, the 3 minute long disclaimer that is on a recorded line allowing them to charge me, the cancellation policy etc. Then into the payment by CC or check, fee for paying by check, confirming shipping address to send invoice..
So if you can do that all in 3 mins you have a direct line to G-D..
I'm also a big gambling man.. if you want to do a conference call with me for $100, I'll give you an over and under of 5 minutes (not 3). If you can get it all done in 5 mins or less Ill Paypal you $100 and if you cant then you PayPal me $100. Yeah, I like action..

Nope that's not what I do. Some of that used to be the case but now I get no wait time, no passed to retention. I say cancel, they say here are some options. Done.
Don't know why it's different for you.
skipping the nonsense part of your post

at the responses on this thread.
I have XM cause I use it for the live traffic and when there are too many advertisements or garbage songs on local radio then I tune to XM channels to listen. Especially when I get tired of the songs in my Ipod. Living in the bay area with one of the craziest traffics around regardless of time, having real-time traffic saves you from getting stuck in certain roads and allows you to view ahead at any time without having to go to your phone, plugging up ways or other apps.
If you don't like it don't buy it or don't renew when your free time runs out, plain and simple. No need for arguments.

I don't have a phone and find XM Radio perfect for listening to music I like when in the car, especially for the discounted price. Are there other options? Sure there are but it works for me and many others so why not?!

Its interesting that my 3 months is up in 8 days and I haven't heard from them yet. Have the full load in the cayenne, but just going to stream them with car play and the sirius app after the 3 months is done on the GT3 since I don't regularly drive it.

Not up for renewal until April but I called and got the great rate mentioned here for All Access. Took 5-6 minutes though because I hesitated and he said how about I throw in a Amazon Echo Dot for free. WTF! Ok sign me up. lol

Is there really a "call center" at Sirrius? I don't use them anymore, but when I did and called them, I got the distinct feeling that I was talking to some house mom somewhere who was doing this from home as a part time gig to get some extra cash. Guess they get paid for every account they get or new or renewed. You call, it gets routed to someone's house who has scripts and gives the spiel.
