Default How much to negotiate off MSRP for this 991.2 C4S?

Was told recently that on this 991.2 Chalk/Crayon Carrera 4S that I plan on ordering soon that because of low 911 allocations to the United States this year (more going to China and 911s are far more profitable in China vs USA), I could only be offered a 2% discount off of the MSRP $134,260. This is just the pre-negotiation stage as I have not placed a deposit down yet or settled on a final price, but I felt like they would've easily taken my deal if I had counter-offered 3%.

Is this reasonable? I really feel like a 6% discount would not be out of the question for me, even though they insisted that 5% was too much for them to handle. What do you guys think I should seriously aim for?

What you can handle , and what they can handle are two different things. Sure, they will still make good money giving you 6% off, but they may have all read Adam Smith. I don't think it's a secret that US 911 allocations are drying up.

Yesterday you were expecting a 13% discount (in your "what color should my car be") thread. Today you are thinking a 3-6% discount.

Shop around. Be willing to go out of state. You should list your location by your user name/avatar, so people can help you better.

hmmm. the 13% thing was wishful thinking and a bit of a joke. for a car on the lot i definitely wouldve gone with that or even a bit higher if its been on the lot for a while

im in tampa so central florida. i feel like the environment would be favorable for a 6% discount

What environment? The weather? The stock market is at record highs. Low unemployment. And Porsche is sending less 911s to the USA. Auhhhh, you gonna pay.

Call Champion.

Should be able to get 5%

Plenty of FL dealers. Call around. Try both Atlanta dealers too.

As many as Champion sells, they aren't big wheeler dealers. In fact, they usually have 25-30 911's in stock, and even they are down to 14 in stock, with 5 of those 2017's.

In this environment, 3% on an ordered car, 5-7 on a lot car at least in SoCa.

5% off per turbo...or a total of 10%.
Else tell them to keep their car and visit the HFS thread...

Call around FL, GA, SC, NC, check car gurus (that's how I found ours). We went to NC to purchase the 991 GTS this past August and bought off the lot. Local dealer said zero off on an ordered car, they had a similar GTS in stock but wouldn't commit to any discount, so off to NC we went, best experience yet in 30+ years of car buying. Our local dealer has a couple of Targas now but that might be above your price point, wife was there yesterday looking at chalk one, no front axle lift so no deal. PM me if you want more info.......

Careful

PSA - happy to have you here to talk about cars but might want to sign up as a sponsor, or not let us know you are a salesman at a dealer in every thread you post in; we get it. Also, even if you don't sign up as a sponsor, being a member has it't benefits too.

On another note - How does the build affect the discount? I mean we know they are making a killing on the options....

I got 5% off on an ordered 2018 GTS4. I'm not sure how that negotiation would have gone if the dealer wasn't likely to make a few bucks on my trade. From what I've read and heard, I feel lucky to have gotten a GTS allocation and I don't feel like I was in a particularly strong negotiating position with so few 911s (and even fewer GTSs) in the current US pipeline.
