Default PORSCHE PASSPORT / rent a car monthly and flip as much as you want

Interesting:

http://www.porschepassport.com/#lp-pom-text-796

Article with findings and pretty aggressive plans for online sales. No surprise millennials are loving this. Do they own anything??

https://www.ctvnews.ca/mobile/autos/...plan-1.3770080

Will the current franchise dealer model even exist or be greatly threatened in another 10 to 15 years?

Very fascinating business model.. I'd do it if I had the cash sitting around. I also like getting the loaner cars at my dealer because I enjoy driving something different. It'll be interesting to see if this picks up though, since the $3000/mo option would effectively lease you a 911 Turbo S (and maybe even a base model Boxster too). I'm 25 and think millennials would enjoy this idea, if it weren't for the cripping student debt and house prices (in SoCal atleast!)

^^^ read the article. Millennials are loving it. Student debt? There was a time when students actually worked their way through school instead of borrowing 110% of their education while majoring in some half *** major with limited/low paying jobs waiting for them. They manage to blow all their cash on $3K/mo apartments and live beyond their means. Want the bling bling lifestyle overnight handed to them. A generalization, but an accurate one for many.

Anyway, this program and one where people want to buys cars online and not mess with dealers is the future.

Excludes GT cars? If this includes them, they will find out a way to "exclude them" due to "limited availability" lol.

Does NOT include GT's

The more expensive $3K/mo one does include the Carrera. Maybe S model too it looks like.

For $2K/mo no 911 at all

What they have done is de-risked the Porsche ownership experience. Reduction of risk requires a premium, which explains charging $2k/mo for a $1k/mo car. Add in the flexibility of changing the car, particularly if you usually use a Cayman, but need a Cayenne for a long weekend drive. Add in insurance, tires, car washes and maintenance and the gap really narrows to the conventional ownership costs. Now, add in the flexibility for short ownership periods and the ability to swap models, transmissions, try out different options, colors, body styles and it may look like a decent deal. In particular, this may be a good idea prior to making a long term commitment.

^^ Correct. A lot of value added things included to make up the monthly $$ with NO WORRIES. I think this will have huge traction. Most likely will convert many to the brand. Article states most are first time Porsche drivers.

I wonder if it will ever really feel like "your Porsche". Lots of pride in ownership of our cars. Not sure a rental would be the same.

Of course it won't. You can flip a car every single day if you want. I don't think millennials really care about that anyway. They don't mind renting everything and owning nothing.

Porsche's version of Tinder ..

I see your point...but...I'm over a decade older than my brother, we both went to the same university. When I was going, it was roughly $2k/semester, by the time he got there, it was almost $9k/semester! I agree on the half *** majors though. Also, I wasn't even paying $3k/m by myself in San Francisco! Where do these kids live!?

Statistically the average Millenial makes $45k and takes Uber. Of course there are a few exceptions in any age group.

Won't be limited to ATL. Cars will likely hit auction and be spread all over the place.
