I really wanted to like the new ZR1 but the new front it’s just butt ugly.

Apples vs avocados.
If I had the room, I'd have a Vette in my garage.

Love corvettes... owned a c6 z51 briefly and driven many other generations including new c7 z06, Z51 etc.
My Dad has owned -5 corvettes- currently has a c6 z06 he retired with.
Perfect world would be to own a C7 ZR1 and a GT2 RS...
The ZR1 hasn't run the nurburgring for a record time, yet. Chevrolet is sending its GTLM drivers back in spring to set a record lap. (Driver Oliver Gavin).

The question is can the ZR1 dethrone the current ring king the GT2 RS!!!
The suspense...
On your comments about black parts... The Chevrolet black parts are mostly painted plastic (or have carbon insert because the weave of the hood is not show quality). The GT2RS is naked carbon fiber with a much higher quality weave (BIG BIG DIFFERENCE). Also a cost factor.. you pay more to get better parts.
But yes the ZR1 is a world class supercar.
I personally prefer the looks of the Porsche 991 over the vette. I also prefer the way 911's drive on the race track.. (thats why the last two sports cars I have owned have been the 997 and 991).
The rest of my garage is all GM - GMC Denali, wife has Buick Envision Premium II.
Oh and I would take a Corvette over a Cayman any day.. preference again.
Buy what you like!
FYI - I looked real hard at a C7 Z06...almost made the switch but PDK (real dual clutch) is so nice when your in attack mode on backroad or track.

Both race in IMSA together. But you are kidding yourself if you think a GTLM cars have anything in common with road car.
Corvette is all carbon fiber body, they ditch leaf springs... and is powered by a custom 5.4 litre na v8 with a sequential transmission and much much more. A c7R costs over 1 million "Doug Fehan himself said'"
The 911 is a carbon fiber body pannel mid engine car powered by variant of the 9A1 in 4.0L form with a Porsche race transmission
They just look the same... have the same unibody and it ends there period.

Both cars are interesting to see in magazines but neither are any fun on a street - or on a track in the hands of a recreational driver. I wouldn't own either. Corvette GranSport with Aero is the one to get IMO - YMMV.
The sole purpose in cars like these is marketing buzz.

I was in my mid 40's and a long term Corvette owner until, back in 2005, I asked my then 15yo son if he would mind if I sold the Corvette. He said, "You need to sell it before you turn into a Q-tip." I had no idea what he meant so I asked and he responded, "White hair and white shoes. Because that is what most of the Corvette owners look like." I sold it the next week.
Corvettes, especially now, are great cars, I'm just too old to own one.
