I've had my '18 CGTS for about a month and a half, and am ecstatic to report this car is really tight. I have not been able to elicit any rattles, squeaks, or untoward sounds at all. I intentionally ran some back country roads this weekend with some rough spots at pretty high speeds, and got nothing in the way of rattles or squeaks. I am pretty **** about that stuff, so I am thrilled I got a quiet one right from the get go. The only bad sound I've heard was when I got rear ended a few weeks back, and even that didn't introduce any driving rattles or squeaks.
My ‘18 C4S has had a rattle in the passenger door that is somewhat consistent at any speed. It started at about 60 miles when I finally turned the music down as to notice. Tried to locate myself by driving horizontal with my head over the passenger seat until I almost put the front spyder wheel into a median 😬. Initially thought it was from the seatbelt harness clapping the rear of seat so fastened it in place- nope. This one turned out to be like a scurrying mouse farting anywhere within the passenger panel. After driving for an hour with a passenger determined it’s emanating near the door Bose speaker. I’ve read that some had inserted foam “area fitters” equally around the inside of mount but not trusting myself to tearing open a new interior. My dealer said bring it in and am going to do so. Will keep posted.
My noise is a spring like noise in the drivers seat that is coming from the bolster on the right side (18 way seats). I hear it when my weight shifts into that part of the seat.
We've seen occasional complaints about squeaks and rattles in 991s as well as Rennlisters who have many miles in 991s that have been as solid and squeak/rattle-free as a 928. I'm curious to see what the percentages look like.
PLEASE do not vote "yes" if you have modified your 991 in any way—that will kill the value of this thread. Instead, let us know about that in your comments (example: "My 991 door started rattling right after I removed the door card to put new speakers in," or "My dash started rattling 500 miles after I lowered the car.").
Please do tell us about your or your dealer's efforts to eradicate squeaks or rattles, as well as how many miles are on your car—and, if you remember, what the mileage was when rattles or squeaks began. If you have photos or videos of the problem or the fix, please post them! I suspect this thread could become very useful for those who are chasing down squeaks or rattles. They can be extremely annoying, and diminish one's enjoyment of the car. You might just have the answer someone is looking for—or they might have the answer you're looking for!

Behind me at the rear there's an intermittent buzzing sound depending on temperature and speed. It comes and goes I just can't put my finger on it.
991.2 GTS Coupe 2018, 1800 miles
--buzz from speaker in passenger door, triggered by music at lower frequencies
--rear passenger seat belt at c-piller, going over bumps
2017 C2S, 4200 mi, spasm, pdcc, sunroof delete, rattle- and squeak-free even over New England pothole infested roads... solid as a rock... vacuum and whistle sounds galore ...
2012 991.1 with same specs had sunroof and back seat belt rattles... sold but overdone crackles and pops not forgotten...
Two-and-a-half years and 15k miles on my 2016 GTS Coupe and it's still (relatively) squeak/rattle/noise-free. With as many different types of materials in close proximity within the interiors of modern Porsches, it's a wonder they ALL don't sound like a bowl of Rice Krispies going down the road.
The acoustics of the 911 interior make tracking down annoying intermittent noises difficult. Where the noise SEEMS to be originating is often NOT the location of the sound.
I believe that when I inflate my tires to the proper numbers, my car is much quieter...as it is when the car itself is not very hot (out in the sun) or very cold.
Turns out it's in the drivers seat for sure. Bolster behind right shoulder. Spent a day at the dealer. They can hear it and are going to fix once they can isolate. Need to leave car for a few days. I am thinking new seat in my future.
Resurrecting this thread. Since delivery in mid-December, my C2 has had some buzzing noises in the cockpit over some types of pavement. At first they seemed to come and go but may no longer be intermittent. Currently have about 2k miles on the odo. The Pirelli winter tires are UNBELIEVABLY noisy over some types of pavement.
My 2014 Targa has been a rattletrap...see my post history for a punchlist.
I've finally fixed most of them except for a creak/squeak from the glass lid assembly.
My car is higher miles than most - I bought in at 13K and it's now at 43K.
Maybe it's a factor of wear and the chassis is flexing?
It was a launch car, maybe it was just a buggy "version 1.0" off the line.
I wish I could quiet it down, I'm envious when other Targa owners swear theirs are silent.
(Also a little skeptical.)
Take a ride in mine and you will not be skeptical; however, I just have under 900 miles on it (2019 Targa GTS).
2017 991.2 C4 - built like a tank. Not a single rattle or unexpected noise going over what I would argue would be the worst roads/infrastructure in the country (Honolulu, Hawaii). Knock on wood lol
