It really depends on where you live. In CA or AZ or TX or FL, they are of little value.

Curious- do heated seats add much weight to the seats?

I agree. That is a fair point.
The OP is from my stomping grounds so I think he will appreciate them.

It’s been highs in the 20’s here in Houston all week. Wanna bet I used my seat heaters?

Definitely. I actually like them, on a brisk morning they are better than turning the climate control up. If Porsche offered seat coolers... I would be very happy.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the seating material. My seats are alcantara, and could not heat up any quicker. 30-40 seconds maybe.

I’m curious, how often do you get those temps in Houston?

They do. I have ventilated seats on both of my Porsches. Maybe I am missing your point.

Admittedly, I haven't used my 911 that often in cold weather. However, the few times the seat heaters were used, I didn't notice them heating up really quickly. They work fine, but my seats don't seem to heat fast or really hot. Better weather expected here in CT this weekend, I'm going for a ride anyway, will test them again. The ventilation feature is fantastic as is the heated steering wheel.

Ventilated seats are, well, ventilated. Perforated material, a diffusion layer and some fans blow air through the seats. Seat cooling systems have a refrigeration system built into the seat. On a hot day it is like someone dumping a bucket of ice into your lap.

Yeah its been crazy cold recently. When I moved down here from Chicago 9 years back I laughed at the locals in what they called the "winter". Now I've gone soft and need heated seats. I've been driving my M4 all week because it has a heated steering wheel (my 991.1 GTS doesn't). The 911's heated seats are about average (I'd say slightly weaker than the M4) but I honestly think that a heated steering wheel is way more important because warm hands go a long way to making the rest of your body feel ok. The big hunk of metal on the sports design wheel is not a fun thing to touch when its below 20 in the cabin. Then again, my 911 has cooled seats which make more of a difference for more of the year down here (my BMW doesn't).

No kidding, I go to the lowest level of heat very quickly or risk a "butt burning". My Ford F150 takes several minutes and doesn't get as warm as the 911. I

Their value in those areas are mainly that they are needed to get the ventilated seats. That said, they've been getting a lot of use this past week.
