This manual makes for some fascinating reading, and demystifies much about the service and internal parts. I was amused to see the detailed section about oil filter replacement where you are advised to use 'special tool protective cover 9882-1'. Has anyone seen or used one of these? Looks like surgery to me.

Actually saw one of these in my local dealer service bay not long ago hanging from a lift.... Didn't look like anyone had used it more than maybe once. I think most techs would look at this as overkill and purely a response to Corporate trying to avoid liability for reported engine fires.

Make sure you buy the one that comes in the Porsche box with a Porsche part number. If you buy one direct from the OEM supplier for 1/4 the price it might void your entire warranty!
