I really like the T concept and would buy one if I were in the market for a new Carrera. I would choose only performance oriented options, MT and no sunroof. My build exercises have resulted in $111-113k cars. It appears the thinking here is that dealers won’t be discounting the T. Just from this forum it doesn’t appear that T buyers are beating a path to showrooms, so I think discounts are available. Also, this isn’t a GT car or one limited in production numbers so I’m guessing fairly typical depreciation. Am I wrong?

The T is a set of S brakes away from being my ideal car. I don't believe I have or ever will NEED S brakes, I just want them. But I also want the smaller turbos of the Base.

PS I think Rear Axle Steering is a must-have option now on the .2 991!
one should also strongly consider a CPO 991.1 GT3 if one is a thinking of $$ speccing a T to the max ( > $120k msrp ) w PCCB , LWB / rear seats delete etc. because the latter will never come close to the "OG " sight, sound, feel driving experience of the former in similar configuration

My opinion only is that the T is the best value as the model was intended.... with as little options as possible.

Are the smaller turbos better, in your opinion, because they weigh less, or because they have less turbo lag?

I am curious about this as well. I tried to find a review comparing the 2 but it was never done.

Heh. The funny thing is, the Sean Spicer who was press secretary actually drives a 991S. No joke.

The base weight of the 911 Carrera S is: 3175 lbs

So we can assume T to S weight saving is 20kg+10kg i.e. 30kg which is 2.1% give or take.

Now $10K is not much of a difference for less of a car and I completely see the T hype as a result of smart marketing from PAG. Nice job guys! Just not everyone is buying in.
I sure don't get it. 44 pound difference.

Ive come to that conclusion as well. Best as a low optioned car, otherwise the Carrera or even S start to make sense quickly.

It's not fair to compare cars bought new with CPO cars on value - though it is practical. I went the CPO route on an S vs Cayman GT4 or Boxster Spyder for that reason. 1-2 year pre owned is always a better value!

I'm glad they offer the T, I think it's cool. The only way cars like T and GTS are "value" as others have said is if you spec them yourselves and keep options low. Dealers load them up to pad their margins.

Some day I'll drive the T and S to compare. To date I'm not interested in the turbo cars for my street use.

Enjoy!

One of my favorite things about the T is the availability of the LWB seats. I think this is the only non-GT model to offer them currently. They really connect the driver to the car in a way that the other seats don't.

Yeah - if you're buying new and options are your thing then the GTS is the way to go, really.

That being said - any of these cars are an emotional decision. It amazes me how many of these cars sell new off the lot. No way would I spend that kind of coin without specing the car EXACTLY the way I want it configured. Over 100K for a car and the options price matters less and less.

If you are asking me.. I want the smaller turbos because they spin up faster and have less lag than the S model. I can't really use all the power in my 2016 C2 so I know I don't "need" more power than the 2018 C2. I tend to drive too fast as it is now so an extra 50 hp will do nothing but get me in trouble. I also want the smaller turbos because clearly the bottom end of the new engine has been designed to withstand at least 450 HP (GTS) so running "only" 370 HP in the base or T it should last forever. I never thought about the weight of the larger turbos but I guess that might also be a small advantage.

In the end, the base and T have more than enough power FOR ME and I just want the handling and braking goodies from the S.

YMMV
