Is there a pretty 991 tail out there ?
Beauty is in the eyes of the beer-holder (yes that's a pun) and all that, but I recently followed a car 100% identical to mine with the spoiler up, and frankly it looked like crap. Looks like someone left a service panel open accidentally, particularly on a white car. That's odd because the 964/993 looked pretty nice with the tail up, the 996 wasn't too bad. Something about my 991.1 makes it looks like an accidental omission when it's up... Granted I can't see it when driving but now it bugs me...
I like the idea of the 991 duck tail, but it looks really thick at the base, not as elegant as the original 2.7RS one... Overall I like it a lot but it's pretty expensive for that it is, and from some angles it looks like a *massive* chunk of plastic... That's still my fallback plan... Is there anything like a more discrete spoiler, maybe aftermarket ? Something ducky that removes the actuated spoiler but looks thinner, or lets you leave the existing spoiler in place but enough lip that deployment is no longer needed? Probably not, but just thought I'd ask... Starting to save for the duck just in case ;-)

This is why I stay under 78 mph.

On the 991.2 I had I left it down. I think the 992’s are looking to be even more awkward. Porsche has always been form over function, so that’s part of the “beauty” really. I do like how on the Turbo the wing starts exposed.

That's what bugs me about the basic duck too.. It's very pricy for a non moveable non painted piece of platic !
I'm not cheap when it comes to the cars, but $2000 for a solid plastic tail or $8000 for Fuchs-like wheels is a hard pill to swallow (yeah I want anniversary wheels too)

I love the shape of the ducktail, dislike the look of the factory tail up (on a white car), and the assurance of no wiring/mechanical issues associated with a rear spoiler made a duck mandatory for my first 911.

Duck rockz!
(I've since added black tips too...ugh that polished look had to go!)

IMHO, a wing looks especially bad on a 991 because the 991 has such a tall, chunky rear end. The air-cooled cars had a low rear lid and bumper, so the tail worked (sort of). The only really elegant tail on a 911 was the early 930/Carrera 3.0 tail, and then the 3.2 Carrera tail. The rest are goofy and awkward.
