Window Tint options on 911
My car has arrived @ the dealership and I will pick it up on Friday...
I'd like to have the dealer do the tints on all 5 windows (2 driver side, 2 passenger side + rear window)... But question is:
What is a good %/darkness to do? My car is white if that matters...
I don't want it too dark, but I don't want it too light either...
I've never had any of my cars tinted before so this is new to me..
Thoughts? Should I do the rear window darker than the others??
I'll post some pics when I pick it up on Friday (tinting included)

I just made this decision today on my Turbo. Part of me thought I shouldn’t tint at all, but i really appreciate the temp benefits in the summer. At the suggestion of the place I decided to go with 35% all the way around which is the lighter side, rather than darker in the back. This would create a more uniform look for the car. Will be a week before I can post pictures, but I’m very satisfied with that compromise.

I have always tinted the windows to my vehicles to the legal limit that the state that I was residing in at the time allows.

First suggestion - look at some Youtube videos at the % differences. Closed vs. open doors create a different perspective. For example - I chose 35% all around and 70% on front window. Looks great to me through an open door and from inside - darker from the outside.

I like the benefits of tint (UV and IR attenuation), but I dislike the way a car looks with dark tint. On the last three of my cars, I have gone with getting all glass (including front and sunroof) tinted with the lightest IR-reflective tint available, which is usually ~72%. My current 991 is an exception, however, as I went with 50% tint on the rear glass to better match the black roof instead of the usual 72%.

Just be aware not everything you see on here is legal. e.g. The only states that legally allow full windshield tint are ND & OH, and that is at 70%. I would suspect that most, if not all, reputable tint shops would only do what was legal in that state, but not all are reputable. Maybe that doesn't matter, but here is a summary of state laws:

I went with 50% all around and it looks almost as dark as the 35% tint on my other cars, due to the limited glass area of the 911. To me 50% is perfect. Wouldn't go darker unless it's for some reason other than looks.

I've never had a car without tint. At minimum I would do 70-80% windshield (currently I have 50%), and 35% all around (currently 30% on sides and 15% rear glass). I used to like doing slightly darker shades on the windows behind the driver/passenger. This time I kept the same and I like it. I went with slightly darker rear to minimize glare from SUVs at night. Ideally go with ceramic tints and make sure your installer is experienced.

I had the clear tails painted with a tinted clear coat by a body shop. Had to do quite a few coats, because tinting the clear too much will make it blotchy if trying to get it in one shot.
Was not crazy about doing a film.
No issues with light brightness.

I have a 991.2S in Carrara white with Crystalline 50% Driver/Passenger and 40% in the back seat and rear window. In CA 70% is legal, but 50% is hardly noticeable.
Can someone do a close-up of the dot matrix on their doors? I'm not happy why Porsche decided to dot matrix the edge making it look bad when tinted.
