Why so little love for the S?
I see so many threads here about the 911 GTS. And the new (apparently somewhat controversial) Carrera T.
Then there are the threads devoted to the Base model 911, and all the owner love for it.
I also see plenty of Targa affection (for different variants).
But it's rare to see a "love thread" dedicated to the Carrera S. Why?
For as long as I wanted a 911, the Carrera S was the one.
A little faster. Bigger wheels and beefier brakes with the iconic red pots. And several other "standard" features (I know, I know, you pay for them and could configure them all separately, but still).
Finally, there's that beautiful curvy S on the rear that looks like the unfolding ribbon of road you're about to carve.
Call me crazy, or satisfied with the variant that's just a little more...S-pecial.
You can't spell LOVES without an S. And I loves mine.

I'm trying to work out a deal on an S right now. Will be a weekend/track alternative. I like that I can pick exactly the options I want and avoid the ones I don't - and I have zero interest in another set of center locks.

C2S owner here ... love mine. Let's be honest ... you're going to be a huge fanboy of whichever model you choose. All of the 911 models are amazing ... from the "base" Carrera to the GT2RS. Just depends on your needs & desired price point.

Both "base" and "S" have (tunable) 3.0 engines, unlike the 991.1 where the base had a 3.4 (like the Boxster S) and the S had a 3.8.
Maybe that's part of it?
The most "controversial" thing to me in the T is the fact they didn't upgrade the brakes (unless one is willing to live with/pay for PCCBs).
They are all great cars.
And there's a Targa thread here that has its share of Targa bashing going on as well.

Carrera S is probably my favorite model. GTS as well. For me the price point that a 911 S comes in at and the driving experience that it delivers are unparalleled.

MGF- Love your car- graphite blue is awesome. I'd love to own an S, but in .2 configuration just didn't feel it was needed or worth it (to me). If money were no object, it would be S all the way, so maybe blame Porsche for the large price spread from base to S...and blame Porsche again for weakening the S's value with the GTS package. Just a side note- when I look down at the speedo on my base car, I am usually thankful I bought the "slow" model.

In my case I got what I wanted and don't feel the need to justify it.
I keep thinking I would like a GTS or a Trurbo, but then get back into my 991.1 C2S with SPASM and sport exhaust and can't justify the change either.
