Stay away from this 911(rental)- WP0AA2A93HS106548
Just a heads up to anyone looking to buy a Hertz 911 with the vin:

link:

This car has seen jumps, burnouts(tough ones), drifts, donuts, races, and just overall reckless abuse... I mean really hardcore abuse.
Also the rear tires are some cheap-o all season continentals that makes the rear end very wobbling causing it to literally swerve when slightly moving the wheel at highway speeds.
Don't ask me how I know.

The fastest car I've ever driven was a rental car.

911 rental that's been abused and just doesn't feel right
who would have thought that was even possible

I guess I am more of the stereotypical curmudgeon / codger. When I look at these cars I think work of art; will only exist for a blink of an eye in the context of the universe. Supply really is limited. In 20 years or less, this kind of machine will no longer be created. Golden ages always end.
It never enters my mind to rag one of these beauties out just because it won't be my problem later. Drive hard? Sure! Race it? Fine. Abuse it just because I can? Nah. It doesn't appeal to me.
You kids stay off my lawn! Back in my day...

I agree. The 991.1 is just a tank. PEC LA and Atlanta don't even follow the break-in process, hammer the cars and then sell them on the open market CPO. Not a problem. Some of those cars are doing 10+ launch control events/day.

i don't know, i wouldn't look at rental cars for this kind of purchase. They almost sold me with this quote tho...
"This Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe's level of quality is not meant for just anyone. It's meant for the person who strives for a classy, comfortable, and luxurious car. The quintessential Porsche -- This Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe speaks volumes about its owner, about uncompromising individuality, a passion for driving and standards far above the ordinary. A truly breathtaking example of pure vehicle design achievement...this is the vehicle of your dreams! Just what you've been looking for. With quality in mind, this vehicle is the perfect addition to take home."

"Never redlined, always warmed up" should be the line they use to sell this one.

Speaking of durability - the Porsche Performance Driving school in Birmingham uses a Turbo S for demonstrating launch control. Instructor shows you how and each student does two - 3 per student. With 30 students - that car did consecutive 90 full launch control with full brake application after each just that day.
The car has 1,900 miles on it - I am quite sure all of those miles have been strictly launch control demonstration. The car is still rock solid - really unbelievable. Still - would hate to acquire that particular "low mileage" Turbo S!

Who would even consider buying an ex-rental 911? Rent cars are made to be abused, not purchased.
On a related note, anyone see the story recently where Mercedes didn't want to buy a Model S for testing, so they rented one from SixT through their ride share program (literally, renting someone's private car) and ran it through a bunch of rigorous tests, dismantled the entire car to study it, reassembled it, and returned it a week later. And almost got away with it, except an engineer left some testing paperwork in the glove box.
