Thank you all for reaffirming me that I'm not crazy. Or that I am, but at least I have a group of equal crazies to content me.

I'm gonna get it fixed. Sucks to pay for something like that, but the mental gymnastics I have to do to get ok with it will far outweigh it, and I've certainly spent money on less relieving things.

I would've done it on the same exact day as well had I noticed it earlier! Lol.

If I see one I usually just make a mental note of it and get it fixed at the next oil change. If it bugs me it’s worth the few bucks to fix it.

My life got easier when I adopted the 5 foot rule, and I enjoy driving the P-cars more because of it.

The 5 foot rule is an excellent one which I try to apply as well. It's one of the reason that I can live with little issues on the paint (which disappear at length) but at the right angle, you can always see a ding. Then again, if you aren't looking for a ding, then you probably won't see it. Which means once again it comes to mental gymnastics.

I would fix it at whatever cost if it bothers me everytime I drive.

$100 later (he gave me a deal) and back to new!

Well worth it, ESPECIALLY since the guy used to own a body shop and showed me how to clean all the haze and bronze off my matte black HRE’s (which I thought needed a full refinishing). The “secret” as he put it is 91% isopropyl alchohol. Incredibly, it got them like BRAND NEW. They look so black with such a sheen now, it’s truly amazing.

Hate em. Find a good PDR person and you'll be amazed how good it feels to see clean sheet metal!

I did this recently on 4 small dings that came with my car from the prior owner/dealer. Ahhhh.

I had 2 in this area taken out flawlessly, Glue. Check around for a more experienced/talented guy. No reason to live with that!

So I went to AutoZone and picked up a PDR kit for less than $20. It included a hot glue gun, glue sticks and a "puller" with a couple of different size pads. Gave it a shot on my own. Worked PERFECT! I snuck up on it though, little bit of glue at first and more and more until I was getting a good pull and no damage to the FACTORY paint. I've used it on several cars with great results. In most cases it takes me multiple pulls to get the dent completely out.

Of course there were all easy dents on smooth metal. Once you get close to an edge or body line they get harder to pull and a professional would probably be needed.

YMMV

Wow, good idea! I was thinking of getting my own kit, but I thought it’d be way more expensive. Is it the actual “glue pull” method?

This is when you practice on the wife's car while she's at a Tupperware party.
