Default Just for fun - What's it like to own a Porsche 911?

I plan to purchase a 4S or GTS within the next 6 months. This will be my first Porsche!

Does a 911 get a lot of attention as a daily driver?
People young and old come up and spark up questions?
Share some insight on what it's like to own such a nice and expensive car.

You will get approached by creepy old white men.

You will have folks in their cars hang out in your blind spot checking the car out

M4 (because of its color) and C7 Corvette (don't see a lot of them around here except at AARP meetings) got more attention. Porsches are at every intersection.

Yep, same here. I had a Viper once and that thing you would have thought a movie star was in with the pictures, looks, videos, thumbs up etc. It was amusing at first, then got really old, really fast. I have a 911TT now and no one seems to care, I love it haha.

It’s great. I’m not seeking attention from my cars and generally don’t get it. When I do, it’s almost universally been positive. I still flash lights / wave at other Porsche drivers (well, those driving 2-door P cars) on the road. At this point, im not expecting a response, but it’s great when I get one.

The thing that I find particularly great is that I’m always looking forward to getting in and driving my Porsche, even if the drive itself is boring. I love, and have always loved, the simple act of driving my Porsche.

In my area they are a dime a dozen so no.

My 1M on the other hand got ridiculous attention.

My current Targa gets more attention than any other M or 911 I have owned and much of it is from women.

1/4 the time someone in a BMW tries to or wants to race me. One time it was a van.

As you can see from the replies already, I think it really depends on what's common in your area. If there are a lot of Porsches then you will fly well under the radar. If not then you will probably get a lot of admiration and comments. In my immediate area I may see one other Porsche a week (if that) - so I get a lot of attention.

Will you be driving with a puppy? I need to know this first, to answer your question.

I don’t get much unwanted attention. What’s nice though is that every couple of weeks, another 911er will smile and waive or thumbs up as if to acknowledge ‘you get it too... part of the club, enjoy’

In my Carmine Red GTS I have not been approached by anyone. In my previous DBM Targa 4S people did approach me once in a while, but it wasn't all the time or anything. I think thats a uniquer (is that a word?) looking car. Agree, it depends on where you live.
