1 or more of the emission system monitors is in the not ready state.
I takes them 100 miles or so after battery removal, reflash ( removing a tune?), or someone clearing all the error faults to become ready again ( assuming you don't actually have a problem).
Go out a buy ( or borrow) a $25 OBD monitor. This will let you see which monitors are not ready and you can monitor your progess.
Go out a take a long drive or two. It might allow all of these to clear.

Take it to ur dealer. If it fails inspection there, it's still under warranty and they'll fix it. Not sure how inspection prices are regulated in Ca., but here it's the same no matter where u take it.

Hang on. First question, did he put you in the system as a failure? This is critical because I believe that you only get two shots at this.
Second, did he say it was the EGR not being recognized? If so, that's a common thing, had it happen to me. Evidently, if the car sits and the battery goes low, that thing shuts down and doesn't register. The solution is the drive the car for a while on the freeway at freeway speeds and it will reset.
I had this happen to me when I bought a C2S from out of State. Luckily the guy doing the smog check was cool and immediately unplugged the ODB and didn't put me in the system as a failure. I called my dealer, they told me about this issue, I drove the car, retested and all was good.
If you're already in as a failure, I'd ask him if he'd let you try this solution and check it without putting you back in the system as a second try.

My daughter moved to California a month ago, while the car was being shipped the battery went dead. It failed the smog test, she had to drive 200 miles then retest. It passed that time. Car was a 2017 Audi A4 with about 3000 miles.

2015 purchased new in Calif wouldn't even be up for a smog check until 2021 and then every two years after that. I assume you purchased used. Regardless, car is still under warranty so if anything is not working dealer is required to fix it. Sounds like you store the car or disconnected the battery and then took it for a test. I made the same mistake with my RV this past year. I attached the battery and took it for the test. It "failed" because it was not ready. Took it for a nice long drive the next day and then back to get re-tested. It passed with no problems.

I had a similar problem in my 2015 GTS. I couldn't get the EGR monitor to reset. Drove it all kinds of different ways on long stretches of empty road. Took it back to the smog place multiple times and it still wouldn't reset. Finally bought a OBDII monitor so I wouldn't have to keep going to the smog place. Kept driving and still never reset. Took it to Porsche and within an hour they had it reset. Took it back to the smog place and it passed. Infuriating situation.
