I like both... thats the truth...IMO... everyone knows which look better the .2 , more modern .2 ,everyone knows which one sound better the .1 ... the better deal on re sale value the .1 , the faster the .2, but at the end on the depends on your taste.. i don't want to offend anyone that think differently... just my perspective.... . i bought my .2 with 5k miles for 100k but sometimes i ask my self if i should bought the .1 2013 S with 16k miles in 64k that a bmw dealer at Naples,FL was selling.... i was going to save a lot of money and still have a great car... and less depreciation....but i fell in love with the led headlights and tail lights...and the cpo warranty

I started reading this thread with the perspective of a Porsche first time buyer, looking for pertinent differences between two .1 and .2. Thanks to all who helped with that. Last week I drove a new to me '18 911 CS with 7K miles from Sarasota FL to Houston, TX. Over ~1100 miles, 15 hour drive home, I fell in love. I'm beginning to understand why there are so many Porsche loyalists, and that this car probably won't be my last P car. Now, to schedule some track time at COTA....

I purchased my 991.2 C4 GTS last July. I was excited about it at first, but after having read this thread, I need to see a psychiatrist!
Just kidding. Soul cats with the PSE fixed the issue for me.
Let's all fight against the common enemy.......the Tesla.

BTW, I kept listening for anything that remotely sounded like a vacuum cleaner from the drivers' seat of my new 991.2 over that 15 hour drive, aaaaand...nothing-just sweet, sweet mechanical symphony. It is nice to know I can get another 90 hp or so with nothing more than a stage 1 tune, though...that's ~460hp. How much is a stock 911 that puts that out? ....and yes, I know there's more than just power output in that price.

I'm quite happy with the stock PSE on my C4S, the manual trans accentuates the sound on overrun more than the PDK. My wife is VERY concerned over the effect the sound is having on the neighbors.
I'm besides myself and can't wait till the run-in period is over!!
Don't see myself wanting more than the rated 420HP on the S.

Well I was in no rush, since I already have a mint 993.
I wanted two things; it had to be normally aspirated and have a 7-speed manual. And I wished I could have bought one new back then.
Well all that happened 5 months ago when I came across a 2015 Carrera 4 GTS with 101 miles on it in the color I wanted. Plus it had a ton of options. I could have easily bought a .2 for the money.
Talk about luck!

Last May I was shopping for a 911, I had two options a 2017 991.2 S with 3000 miles and Manual transmission vs CPO 2015 991.1 GTS with 22,000 miles Pdk, I drove both and ended up buying my first Porsche the 991.1 which felt more fun to drive to me and I liked its looks more. Oh I forgot to mention that price wise both were very close and within a $1000 of each other.
