Hello,
I was wondering how did you get the auto dimming rear view working.
I am stuck. I thought I could do away without the LIN cable connected but it is not the case.
I have hardwired the mirror from the fuse box.
It is powered, the green light below is on but the mirror does not auto-dim.
Would really appreciate your help?

Take care.

Yes, bummer. Without LIN input and thereby the mirror knowing when the headlights are switched on or not, I don't believe you will get it to work.

Thank you for your reply.
Has anyone been able to bypass the Local Interconnect Network?
I have the seen the rain/ headlight sensor has 3 pins as well. Guess the middle wire is for the LIN. Could I tap this one?

Cheers

sure, you should be able to tap into LIN bus but if your system is not sending the LIN commands to address the mirror nothing will happen.

I think it could work. The mirror will listen for a lights on command. Modules that react to commands don't have to be specifically addressed.

Hello, I am a bit confused. It would be great if you could share the wiring schematic for the 718

From the mirror I have BRN, RED, BLU

From the rain/light sensor I have BLK/RED, BLK, VIO

Thank you for your help.

Those are the standard colors from the car and mirror - same as on my car. Just connect the mirror and you are good to go.

I am traveling and not near my car. However, the middle wire in LIN. It matches the wiring diagram I previously posted. You had previously already wired 12V and ground?

I tried doing this and it didn't work. For one, the wiring harness (991-612-691-00) is for the rain sensor, so don't waste your money on it. What you need is the yellow plug, which unfortunately is part of the main wiring harness. So what I did was tap 12v and ground, which powered the mirror, but tapping into the LIN cable didn't do anything. I suspect that you need to have the computer programmed for it to function. Anyone else have any luck?

If you have rear tints, this would hardly be noticeable. Not worth the hassle of trying to wire it up IMO.
