Does anyone think the lowly, base C2 (without PSE and SC) will ever be worthy of a Powerkit?

To answer your question, I doubt it. If Porsche were smart tho, they’ll sell you a performance kit that at minimum gets you to the S level

porsche likes having a higherarchy and reason to get you to upgrade. The ECU has been cracked by a couple tuners. Just a matter of time before the aftermarket responds. Of course no warranty... but at least there will be options.

Indeed, and in this case those options will likely be more reliable than they are with most other tuned engines, because the 991.2 engines--from base to GTS--appear to be identical except for their turbochargers. But I'll still probably wait until my warranty expires before taking the plunge.

These cars in either trim are "too much car" for our public roads. I hit 40 in 1st gear in order to hear the engine roar in the upper RPMs...
Besides the base .2 is a fast as a .1 GTS so your car isn't slow.
Play on highway ramps and hope for the best but prepare for the worst...

The techs wound up burning a lot of unexpected time troubleshooting a DME update failure when they were coding it for X51. And they couldn't roll it back to original, either. After lots of back and forth sending videos of the issue to Porsche tech support they eventually replaced the DME to get it to work, but I wasn't asked to pay for that labor - or that new part. I was out of town at the time and had dropped off the car for the upgrade, so it didn't impact me at all.
