Break-in Over!!!!!!!
I have been driving the new 2017 C4S as much as possible the past 3 weeks and I finally crossed the 1000 miles barrier so I can gradually get on her a bit.
Very excited.
All has been great with the car except this girl makes some of the strangest noises I've ever heard in a 911. Almost sounds like the engine is shifting positions starting off slowly and not warmed up.
Also, while I am loving the comfort of the 18-way seats, the driver seat has started to make a clicking and popping sound occasionally on low speed turns. Sounds like something is a bit loose.
Minor stuff because the ride is awesome. Having Sport PASM definitely stiffens up the ride over the standard PASM substantially, but within comfortable limits.

b) I don't own the 18-way but I have the same sport plus seat in 4-way because for my body the adjustability would have been minimal. Fits perfectly. I'm assuming it's the air bladders and all the adjustable pieces being loose. My seats in my previous M5 would make farting noises and faint clicks. This is one of the reasons why I went with 4 way. The sport plus bucket seats are lighter without all the adjustments, fitted without moving parts, and don't really need memory because I'm the only driving and cleaning the car. Set once and forget.
I love the SPASM, a little stiff around SF streets, but when the surface it smooth I'm not really sure why PDCC is needed with the minimal body roll the car already exhibits.

The manual does say 2000 miles.
Withh all if the 911s I’ve owned, I drive somewhat conservatively for the 1st 500 miles, a bit harder for the next 500, and then gradually open it up over the next 1000.

If it *is* the seat, get it looked at. We have 18-ways in both the 981 and 991 and they do not fart, groan, or complain.

I did 1700 miles in my 2017 C4S and then changed the oil and Road America.
I have the 18 way seats, no noises or problems.
If not Tracking I would have waited till the USA 2000 miles to exceed the RPM limit and then changed oil at the recommended interval.-Richard

You are correct, I was told so this summer by a professional driving instructor at the Porsche Driving School. He said he asked at the factory about this also while receiving his orientation, and said no break in period is necessary on these cars, but did say to keep it off the record. We ran brand new 911s and Caymens on the track that were put up for sale as demos later. Do what you like, but the only caveat being that if you are going to drive it hard, make sure the car is properly warmed up i.e. oil temp and tires.

Not sure what to believe. I've got a Pal that has had a few 911s and never broken them in...........but hasnt kept them very long. I know it can't hurt so why not do it by the book I guess.

Not sure if it's entirely true, but you'd have to assume that with that many previous cars getting put into circulation, you'd start noticing that tremendous wear and tear on <4000 mi cars bubble up at some point. I know I sure run the heck out of the cars I'm in while I'm there!

I'm about 50 miles short of 2k. Did my best to keep the rpms under 5k, with maybe a couple of runs to 6k, later in the break in period. So few opportunities to wind it out with traffic that I'm not sure my driving style will change much now that break in is done. Unnecessary oil change is next.
