Both the RS29 and DS1.11 squeak. The DS2500 is not sqeaky and it doesn't require special bedding like the DS1.11 or RS29. The price of the DS2500 is definitely right compared to the RS29 or DS1.11. Never realized how close the DS2500 and RS29 were in performance until RandR published the performance statistics. THis makes DS2500 look like a real bargain.

Yes Finally
This is awesome.....Clark!
I installed the front and rear Giro Disc I got from you along with the Tarett Claiper Studs and wiring studs.
Cant wait to receive the DS2500 Ferodo's to try on the street and at Sebring in the coming weeks.
Thanks for all your help!

PFC has no pads for the 991S...go figure. The only option I am aware of is RS29 or now DS1.11 or DS2500 from Ferodo.
You can use the GT3 pad on any 991 S with the coresponding Giro Disc front rotors. The front calipers on the 991S are the same as the GT3. Porsche for reasons unknown made the hat larger on the 991S so the standard GT3 pad will not properly seat......Giro Disc fixed this by making size of the hat smaller.

ie, if I'm switching to the Girodiscs anyways once the oem rotors are shot (which is anytime now), I could run either a GT3 shaped or a regular Carrera shaped pad in the front, since calipers are the same? Or would I need to get a "GT3 girodisc rotor"?
Now that Ferodo is making the DS1.11 for regular Carrera, any advantage/disadvantage to running the GT3 front pads? Possibly larger pad surface?

Got my Ferodo pads!
Clark thanks to you and Linda for all the knowledge and help with the pads, Girodisc Rotors, Stilo helmets and the other products.
I need to get a way to hook up my Chaterbox to my Stilo which I think Linda said there is a package for this.
Talk soon! Mike

Got my Ferodo DS2500 pads and Giro Disc rotors the car. As usual with Porsche install went easy. I also put on the Tarett Caliper Studs and Brake Line Studs too. Makes taking calipers off and putting back on a breeze.
So far on the street the DS2500 pads are quiet. I will be at the track in a week and will see how they do. In the past I am use to Pagid RS29 Yellows on the 997 cars but the Pagid Yellows are very loud on the street and no great when cold. I am trying not to have to swap pads back and forth...just track wheels to street wheels.
Get with Clark at Apex Performance....Clark knows exactly what works for the 991 cars. Super great service and pricing....is why I only shop with Clark and Linda.

I also got the Girodiscs today but with the DS1.11 instead. Switching from very cracked/worn OEM rotors and worn (<50%) Pagid RSL29 yellows.
A few things I noticed on my first drive/bedding on the highway:
1) Car stops ferociously. Really strong braking. I couldn't get this much braking force out of the Pagid/OEM rotor combo regardless of pedal pressure. I'm hoping this setup will allow some late braking on the track.
2) Initial bite is substantially more than the Pagids. Pedal feel also quite a bit firmer (using the same Motul 600 fluid). The DS1.11 brake fairly hard with not so much initial force on the pedal, with great linear modulation as I apply more pressure and it seemed easier to do a smoother release. My worn Pagids took a lot of pressure to threshold brake, which then made it more challenging (for me at least) to smoothly release/transition.
3) It's extremely loud right now, but admittedly I did not bed them fully. After more bedding I'd expect the noise to decrease.
Overall, the setup feels really good. I'm driving to VIR on Thursday so will get a chance to test it properly next weekend - will report back.
I think my shop gets the parts from Apex - parts arrived very quickly, w no issues.

Received my Ferodo DS2500 pads last week and spent the weekend installing the Tarett Engineering caliper stud and bracket stud kits as well as the new pads,...also flushed my hydraulic system and changed to Motrul 600 RBF. Everything worked out great and the only issue is that the DS2500's do squeal. Disappointed as I was hoping for a combo street/track pad but it appears this is not the one. Like the pads,...hate the squeal!

^^^ Squeal is always part of good track pads. Quiet pads are not the compromise you want for the track. With the caliper studs changing pads is not a big deal. I do it for every event.
