Skip the tour of the leather shop and spend the extra time in Engine Assembly and the rest of the line.

I think museum admission is free with a PCNA membership card.

From 2014 through 2015 it was free with PCNA card. From 1 Jan 2016 they started charging normally half price (4 Euro with discount - about $4.50). I went there a lot (2-3 times per month) when I lived there from 2014-2017 so sometimes they wouldn't charge me, sometimes they would. Sometimes they waived the 4 Euro parking fee and sometimes they didn't. Sometimes they charged for the factory tour and sometimes they didn't. I found if I chatted the ladies at the counter up, they tended to give you a break.

Regardless, the charges are low and well worth the price.

If you go to the Museum and the restaurant on the ground floor is packed, walk up the street from the circle with the museum on your right a few hundred meters and there is a great lunch/bakery place. The Pasta Carbonara is amazing! The name is Siegel's 711.

Here's the website. It's the one in Zuffenhausen.

Allow enough time to tour the Mercedes Museum. It's in a different part of town, but an easy taxi ride. Provides an excellent historical record of automotive development, German and World history, and many more cars on display, plus the building itself is amazing. Stuttgart is a beautiful city with many interesting areas, excellent zoo, great restaurants and shopping. Hope you get to spend some extra time there....we really enjoyed it.
