Bought the grossly overpriced 911R grill back in March and finally got around to installing it this past week. I thought this would be an easy quick install but its not, well it can be if you dont mind it not sitting flush.
The grill comes in pieces, you have to assemble it(3 pieces), I know Suncoast offers the grill, I assume they include all the clips and bolts to put it together. The dealer I ordered from didnt, so I they had to figure out what was needed.
The first issue with the grill are the two holes for the 911R emblem. My first thought was to use two small round black stickers to cover them but it looked like crap. On the back side of the grill you have to install some small black rubber buffers to keep the grill from rubbing, I had a couple extra so I drilled the holes slightly larger and used two of them. Looks great and like it was meant to be that way. (arrows show the location of the holes with the rubber plugs)
The second issue is the studs on the back side of the grill, they are too long and keep the grill from sitting flush( pic below shows where they studs hit the paint ). I know there is another member with this grill and in his pics you can see the gap and what the emblem holes look like without plugs.
At first I thought cutting just two would fix the issue but I ended up having to cut all of them.
Overall I am very happy with the look, price is silly but it makes the car more aggressive looking so I think its worth it.
I think your 911R rear grill install [sic] looks great. I like it much better than the standard rear grill. Did you cut the bolts shorter to allow it to sit down the way it should? I think it looks like a really nice upgrade. Well done.

I looked at pics of the underside of the 911R engine lid and it doesnt look any different than mine so the top must be slightly different.
If you look closely at the pics of this members install you can see the grill is tilted up slightly.
I like the stripes, but I think having the grill and the stripes comes off as being a knockoff/asshat.
Kinda like a guy with a bone stock Mercedes with AMG logos all over it.

I completely agree with that sentiment if you have a 911R badge on the car. If not, then I think stripes are okay. There's nothing wrong with a tribute car, in my opinion, as long as you aren't trying to pass it off as something it's not.
The car looks good without stripes anyway; it was just a thought.
I've seen people with classic air cooled cars fabricate similar pieces for their cars. Considering the cost I wonder if something similar could be fabricated without much effort.
