Proper inflation, set to "comfort level".
Michelin Pilot Super Sports or the new PS4s.

I've been really happy with the A/S 3 on other cars, but I don't believe they're made in sizes that fit the 19s or 20s in the 991. However, by most accounts it seems like the Pilot Sport 4S and the ExtremeContact Sport are both great street tires with good comfort and noise levels.

I've got about 500 miles on my new Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires and love them.

Avoid the P Zero’s. Worst tires yet in 8 years of 997 driving - flat spotted and constantly need balancing. S-04’s are a great tire, but I have heard so much great news about MPS4s that those will be my next set.

Check your tire pressure and make sure you're running like 31/34 cold.
The pressures on the door will make it ride like the Flinstones.
I run 28/31 on my Alpin PA4s, ride is great and grip is awesome in the wet.
Will switch back to PS4s in a month or so, they are great too.

The new Contisilent. They have foam in the tires and it works great. I have them as the OEM tire on my Audi E-Tron and likely will buy them for my 911. Reduces tire roar and road noise considerably. -9 dB vs a conventional summer tire.

Here's some more info on acoustic tires off the Tire Rack website. There are several brands.

The Michelin PS4s that came with the car are great. They are wearing well and relatively quiet over all road surfaces. Great grip and for a summer tire are good in the wet.
As some have said, very sensitive to air pressure v comfort. I keep mine a few pounds above the 29/33 comfort setting.

I'm very interested those Conti make a real diff whitout changing performance . 9db is huuuuge considering every 6db double the perceivable noise.
