I pulled this thread in prep for a magnetic licence plate mount mod I want to undertake (thanks for the suggestion flickroll), and I must say, it sets the high water mark for how a DIY should be documented. Thanks bkrantz!

Thanks. Besides clearing out the grass hoppers, I pulled the bumper as an exploration and had fun taking photos.

BTW, between our drought and installing these, I have not collected bugs this year.

will you ever share a DIY on what you did there? They look amazing and a nice alternative to the Rennlines!

Hi, guys. I am still intending to finalize a better grill attachment method, and then publish a more complete description. I just need to stay home more (but Rennsport was a blast).

I removed bumper and installed rennline screens in my 991.2 turbo. A few notes:

It will make it easier if you remove complete wheel liner and have a lift but iI did the whole thing without Ramps, without taking off my wheels, and without taking off the whole wheel liner

You need a spouse or girlfriend to help so that you can take things out on them when you get frustrated with things like reaching in and unclipping the brown plug (hardest thing and would have been easier if you took off entire wheel liner)

On a turbo, there are 2 vacuum lines you need to unclip underneath. They work the same was as John guest water line connectors to unclip

I'm also did the magnetic license plate holder thing while the bumper was off and epoxyed the magnets to the inside.

I have one trim screw leftover. Can someone tell me where it goes?!! Ha ha. But seriously can not figure out the one missing trim screw.

The rennline screens insteuctions are really bad btw. You have to take off the light assembly above the intakes and drill into the back of the right and left intake grills. The center screen would have requires drilling and removing the whole center intake but I got around it by using 3M VHB tape and it holds like epoxy. Saved me a ton of time and frustration and you can't see the tape at all.

To TheBruce, thanks for the great write-up which certainly has inspired many. Where did you get the mesh which I presume is aluminum?
TIA
cheers,

I can't thank you enough for writing this. You are hero to me. Just finished installing the Rennline Radiator Protector screens and this tutorial was extremely helpful. The hardest part for me was disconnecting those brown electrical connectors. They are pretty air tight so you have to apply quite a bit of force to pull them apart. Also, the left side clips being opposite doesn't help too. The wheel fender liners are a bit difficult to get off, but once you get the hang of it, the other side goes like a breeze. I made a timelapse video of the whole thing just for fun:
