Imo neither car feels anything like the q5, even with the same engine. The sq5 engine is a monster that sounds and feels awesome, better than the engine in the macan. The handling is awesome too.

the macan s is another level of handling and ride comfort (ours has the air suspension), and is a phenomenal car and a huge step up.

We also paid 46k for our macan s with an 81k msrp with 20k miles on it. The sq5 was close to 40 with the same miles. Great used value on both.

But, I get where you are coming from. That said I suggest text driving both.

SQ5 does sound awesome...........inside. Its fake engine noise.. I still love it.

My sunny car: 2015 991 GTS
My utility/beater: 2013 Ford F150 FX4
Wife's car: 2012 Audi Q5

Over the last several months, we've test driven:

2016 e63 AMG S--this thing is/was a beast. Had an offer for $90k at a local dealership on a 2015 holdover, but they wouldn't budge, so we walked... wish we could pony up for the 2018 version, but out of the sensible price range

2016 c63 AMG S--very fast, good handling, but the firmness of the ride didn't do it any favors, esp over expansion joints and potholes. I must be getting too old for it...

2015 Porsche Macan Turbo--the only Macan demo the dealership had (we were interested in a GTS variant); good power, good handling and supple ride that Porsche somehow is able to balance without too much compromise; might be a bit too $$ for us--I keep building a GTS spec and end up in the low $80k... also, rear seats are not as roomy as, say, the BMW M550i...

2018 BMW M3 non-competition package--again, ride very firm, like the c63 AMG S. Interior quality a bit of a let down when compared to the c63 and just stepping out of the M550i...

2018 BMW M550i--we really liked this car, the plush ride was more what I was looking for; it can coddle the passengers in comfort, has all the bells and whistles, and is very quick despite not being a true M. Negatives would be big size, likely marginal resale value, and I can see the reviewers calling the handling boring...

2018 Range Rover Velar--gorgeous interior, tech laden; isn't particularly thrilling to drive (380 hp but heavy); we liked this car also, but I am nervous about Range Rover's reliability record; if we were leasing, this would probably be the one we'd get...

2018 Jaguar F-pace--noisier, rowdier than Velar, handling much better but at the expense of plushness of ride. I definitely concur it's much more 'exciting' than the Velar, but the interior is definitely a couple of notches below the Velar...

Still deciding on which car; will be looking at BMW 4 series. Also sat in (not driven) the Audi S5 Sportback--but the rear seat room killed it, so we didn't even bother...
I had a 435i GC, traded it in after 3k miles for an M3. It was boring and has issues with an O2 sensor that was intermittent. I could've dragged it out a bit and battle BMWNA for a buy back or the dealership to get it fixed but ultimately, I was just over it. Biggest bust car purchase I've ever made... and I owned a Saab 9-3 Vector if that says anything.

I'd love to have a Macan GTS, but this X1 M-Sport is about half the price and makes a fine Costco car. I actually love this four-seater and would probably lease another one.

Kenny,

It's a great truck and handles very well with sport & track modes making noticeable differences in the way it drives. It's also much nicer inside than regular Jeep GC's. When your ready, buy a used one from an Original owner if you can. I find many people who own these Jeeps treat them well and are enthusiasts. Plus, you can save a bunch of money.

Cheers.

Engine is good. Not crazy fast because I didn't get the T8--didn't want to deal with a hybrid yet--but definitely fast enough for a massive SUV. Suspension could use work, but we bought the Inscription vs the R and that might have been a mistake.

That aside, the XC90, to me, is the only vehicle right now that feels like its truly competing with Tesla in terms of quality and sheer technology. It's not fun to drive like my Macan or Cayenne, but it's great with the family, is incredibly comfortable, great fit/finish/quality and has the best technology and UI/UX of any car I've driven in the last 10 years.

Thank you! Had a Volcano Grey Macan GTS, but found one in Fashion Gray and that was that.

I'm entertaining T6 X60 myself as a daily. I reckon you would recommend it.
