Default Can you wax 3M protective clear wrap?

Hey guys, since my new to me 911 has tons of 3M clear wrap all over it, I'm wondering if my washing method will be adequate in keeping said wrap protected. I use ONR rinseless wash/wax solution which has proven excellent in my experiences to clean while also keeping a thin protective coat of wax on a vehicle. Will this suffice on the wrap?

A couple of guys have mentioned a plastic protector who's name now escapes me, but in an ideal world, I'm hoping I can just use the same process I use on my paint, on the wrap.

Thanks.

I was actually asking that very same question as a paint protection film installer today. You can wax it but don't polish it was the answer.

Treat the wrap like paint - you can wash it and wax it the same as paint. I have heard of people putting a buffer on it with no ill effects - just be very careful with the edges.

I do not use any abrasives/ compound on my Xpel but I do clay it, polish it and apply sealer using my orbital buffer. Treat it just like a clear coat surface. Takes polish extremely well. No issues. I use Blackfire products, polishes, sealants etc... no problem.

Wax as normal. Polish okay but check for approved chemicals in any product and PPF manufacturer.

XPEL advises customers to avoid products containing "dyes, Naptha or Kerosene" on ppf.

Meguiar's parent company is 3M. They advise to "take care to avoid, compounds, polishes, and “cleaner” wax as they can damage the clear plastic film." They further advise that these products are safe for ppf: Meguiar's Ultimate Wash and Wax, Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo and Conditioner, Meguiar's Ultimate Wax (Paste), Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Detailer and Meguiar's Quick Detailer.

I have Suntek on my car and the only thing I use after wash is a drying agent from Chemical Guys specifically designed for PPF with no color. I would not use any Quick detailer or liquid wax with color in it since the film would absorb the pigment.

Also, once a month I apply XPEL Paint Protection Film Sealant.

Seems line Meguire's states the QD and colored wax's and such are ok though? Those things, regardless of what color they are, don't seem to leave "stains?"

Does Meguiars manufacture PPF? If that's true why the dedicated QD for PPFs have no color?

I was told by the installer who did my car before purchase and who does XPEL and 3M, to use quick detailer and spray wax. I had asked about whether I could use old fashioned carnauba paste wax and was told to not use anything, wax or polish or glaze, that contained petroleum distillates as most carnaubas do. Anything with petroleum products in it apparently can cause yellowing. Read the labels and you'll see glazes that are synthetic and contain no petroleum products. I think Meguiars has one.
